CdHgTe thin films were grown onto glass substrate via the Chemical bath deposition technique. XRD results indicate that a CdHgTe formed with a cubic polycrystalline structure. The crystallinity of CdHgTe thin films is gradually deteriorate with increasing the gamma irradiation. EDS spectrums confirms the presence of Cd, Hg and Te elements. DC electrical conductivity results depicted the conductivity of CdHgTe increase with increasing a gamma ray dosage

ABSTRACTIt is well known from studies of individual interfaces that grain boundaries exhibit a spectrum of properties because their structure is misorientation dependent. Usually this variability is neglected and properties are modeled using a mean field approach. The limitations inherent in this approach can be overcome, in principle, using a combination of experimental techniques, theory and modeling. The bamboo structure of an interconnect is a particularly simple polycrystalline structure that can now be readily characterized experimentally and modeled in the computer. The grain misorientations in a [111] textured aluminum line have been measured using the new automated technique of orientational imaging microscopy. By relating boundary angle to diffusivity the expected stress voiding failure processes can be predicted through the link between misorientation angle, grain boundary excess free energy and diffusivity. Consequently it can be shown that the high energy boundaries are the favored failure sites thermodynamically and kinetically.

Two identical Co/EuS and Fe/EuS multilayers of six periods each and with individual layers of about 4 nm thick are grown by e-beam evaporation under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. The films show polycrystalline structure with a grain size limited by the individual layer thickness. Both multilayers consist of almost continuous layers with some roughness. The surface peak-to-peak roughness is about 4–5 nm. Magnetization measurements and calculations of the loops based on a Stoner–Wohlfarth-like model allow us to determine the direct antiferromagnetic exchange coupling constant between the 3d metal and EuS at 5 K. Both samples show strong enhancement of the Curie temperature of EuS up to at least 50 K with a EuS magnetization tail, which persists up to about 100 K. The J = 7/2 character of the EuS layers is shown to be responsible for the large Curie temperature enhancement.

PZT(70/30) powder was prepared by a sol-gel method and PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on the alumina substrates. The coating and drying procedure was repeated 4 times. And then the PZT(30/70) precusor solution was spin-coated on the PZT thick films. A concentration of a coating solution was 0.5 mol/L and the number of coating was varied from 0 to 6. The porosity decreased and the grain size increased with increasing the number of coatings. The thickness of the PZT-6(6: number of coatings) films was about 60~65μm. All PZT thick films showed the typical XRD patterns of a typical perovskite polycrystalline structure. The relative dielectric constant of the PZT-6 thick film was 540. The remanent polarization and coercive field of the PZT-6 film were 23.6 μC /cm2, 12.0 kV/cm, respectively.

This paper presents theoretical modeling of two-phase ceramic composites subjected to compression. The meso-mechanical model allows for inclusion of all microdefects in the polycrystalline structure that exists at the grain boundary interfaces and inside the grains. The constitutive relations for the Al2O3/ZrO2composite with the gradual degradation of the material properties due to different defects development were formulated.
