Drag reduction agents (DRA) with its special properties adhering to the inner wall of gas pipeline can reduce the pipe surface roughness and turbulent velocity of gas flow. Injecting DRA into the natural gas pipeline is a potential and economical method which decreases the energy consumption and enhances gas delivery throughput. The premise that DRA can be used on site is to pass the performance test in laboratory, so reasonable DRA test system are designed through simulating the operation conditions of natural gas transmission pipelines. Emphatically improving the pumping system, atomization injection system and test pipe section. The pumping system adopts separation design pattern which can avoid various DRA samples blending drastically. The atomization injection system provides full atomized space for DRA solution which can ensure atomization injection process to carry out ideally. The test pipe section can replace quickly and ensure a higher measuring accuracy. The proposed approach above can perfect the test system for DRA used in gas transmission pipeline and can provide important guidance to the industrialized application of DRA.

With the growth of the natural gas market, the long distance natural gas pipeline system is getting more and more important in nowadays. As a united and enclosed hydraulic system, the operation conditions of the whole line will be changed by the influence of the condition change in one station. On the one hand, the condition change made people analyze operation scheme more difficult, on the other hand, pipeline system operating conditions directly affect the relationship between the production and the sales of natural gas. Therefore, the operation of the gas pipeline must be optimized, which brings huge economic and social benefits. This paper constructed a simulation model of a long distance natural gas pipeline by TG.net, and then analyzed the change of the operating condition of the pipeline after a compressor station shut down, found out the regularity.

The paper shows a comparison between two intervention methods for interconnecting two gas transmission pipelines within a natural gas transmission system. One intervention implies shutdown of pipelines, while the other one in-service pipelines. Each method is described in detail along with the main technological issues, as well as the related advantages and disadvantages. The technological procedures imply special working techniques such as welding or hot tapping in service pipelines.

This report details the work undertaken by the International Gas Union (IGU) Study Group 3.4 during the triennium 2003–2006. The initiative that launched this work came during the 22nd World Gas Conference where it was noticed that use of pipeline incident information often is not fit for purpose. A comparative analysis has been carried out considering the most frequently used and reliable high pressure gas pipeline incident databases. The four main objectives of the analysis were to determine the differences and similarities of existing databases, create a reference model to be used when developing a new pipeline incident database, assess if harmonization of existing databases is possible and to provide recommendations regarding the above.

The harmonic reducer, with its advantages of high precision, low noise, light weight, and high speed ratio, has been widely used in aerospace solar wing deployment mechanisms, antenna pointing mechanisms, robot joints, and other precision transmission fields. Accurately predicting the performance of the harmonic reducer under various application conditions is of great significance to the high reliability and long life of the harmonic reducer. In this paper, a set of automatic harmonic reducer performance test systems is designed. By using the CANOpen bus interface to control the servo motor as the drive motor, through accurately controlling the motor speed and rotation angle, collecting the angle, torque, and current in real time, the life cycle test of space harmonic reducer was carried out in high vacuum and low temperature environment on the ground. Then, the collected data were automatically analyzed and calculated. The test data of the transmission accuracy, backlash, and transmission efficiency of the space harmonic reducer were obtained. It is proven by experiments that the performance data of the harmonic reducer in space work can be more accurately obtained by using the test system mentioned in this paper, which is convenient for further research on related lubricating materials.
