In this work we discuss the importance of visualization, simulation and monitoring pipelines constructed in areas geologically unstable. In particular it is of great concern pipelines crossing Serra do Mar, in Brazil, where there are colluvium deposits subject to slow movements not traceable by a simple visual inspection most of the times. In order to guarantee the structural integrity of the pipeline it is necessary to measure the tensions transmitted by the ground to the pipeline. Knowing that the soil-pipeline interaction is extremely complex the implementation of an extensive program involving visualization, simulation and monitoring that includes not only the slope but also the pipeline becomes mandatory. This program seeks the collection of information that allows the establishment of a reliable interaction model. This model must be capable of providing operational control parameters and subsidize the decision of an intervention in the pipeline. Therefore the safety of pipeline operations can be maximized through instruction of operators and establishment of monitoring and inspection routines. Right now, in a joint effort of CENPES and TRANSPETRO, a complete set of visualization and numerical simulation software platform is available and it is being used to build a 3D model of all the geotechnical risky areas in Serra do Mar. Also the installation and operation of a pilot monitoring system, including piezometers and inclinometers on the slope and strain gauges on the pipeline, at three different pipelines crossing Serra do Mar, with data acquisition in real time is being undertaken.

EN AC-46500 aluminium components are formed by Semi-Solid Rheocasting (SSR) in an industrial plant using a 700 tons high pressure machine. The dies wear was designed by the PLCO model of the ProCast simulation software. The components have had a good structural integrity and the mechanical properties after T6 treatment have been equivalent to that obtained by the same alloy by die cast. The present work describes the SSR forming process, the resulting microstructure as well as the optimization of the ageing heat treatment by hardness evolution. The results of the tensile tests make these clear.

This paper discusses the terramechanics models developed to incorporate a physics-based, three dimensional deformable terrain database model with vehicle dynamics mobility simulation software. The vehicle model is contained in Chrono, a research-grade C++ based Application Programming Interface (API) that enables accurate multibody simulations. The terrain database is also contained in a C++ based API, and includes a general tire-terrain interaction model which is modular to allow for any tire model that supports the Standard Tire Interface (STI) to operate on the terrain. Furthermore, the ability to handle arbitrary, three dimensional traction element geometry allows for tracked vehicles (or vehicle hulls) to also interact with the deformable terrain. The governing equations of the terrain are based on a soil compaction model that includes both the propagation of subsoil stresses due to vehicular loads, and the resulting visco-elastic-plastic stress/strain on the affected soil volume. Non-flat, non-homogenous and non-uniform soil densities, rutting, repeated loading and strain hardening effects are all captured in the vehicle mobility response as a result of the general 3-D tire/terrain model developed. Pedo-transfer functions allow for the calculation of the soil mechanics model parameters from existing soil measurements. This terrain model runs at near real-time speed, due to parallel CPU and GPU implementation. Results that exercise the force models developed with the 3-D tire geometry are presented and discussed for a kinematically driven tire and a full vehicle simulation.

Applying different types of fertilizers to different depths of soil according to demand is advantageous in that it can optimize the distribution of nutrients in arable soil, adjust the nutrient supply of each growth stage of wheat, and increase grain yield. In the study, a layered fertilization opener that could realize the layered fertilization was developed. The interaction model between the opener, fertilizer and soil was established using EDEM simulation software. A response surface analysis was used to determine the optimal parameters of the opener. Specifically, the horizontal distance between the fertilizer drop openings was 140 mm, the machine speed was 1.05 m/s, and the angle of the opener was 37°. Furthermore, field experiments demonstrated that the average depth of upper layer was 8.39 cm, the average depth of middle layer was 16.465 cm, the average depth of lower layer was 24.025 cm, the average spacing of upper layer was 8.075 cm, and the average spacing of lower layer was 7.6 cm. The corresponding findings demonstrated that the layering effect of the opener met the requirements of the fertilization standard.

Machado de Assis (1839-1908) is considered the most important Brazilian writer and a great universal literary figure. Little is know about his medical, personal and family history. He hid his «disease» as much as possible. Machado referred to «strange things» having happened to him in his childhood. He described seizures as «nervous phenomena», «absenses», «my illness». Laet observed a seizure and described it as: «... when Machado approached us and spoke to me in disconnected words. I looked at him in surprise and found his features altered. Knowing that from time to time he had nervous problems,... and only permitted Machado take the Laranjeiras Street car, when I saw that he was completely well». A photographically documented seizure is shown. Alencar wrote, «The preoccupation with health was frequent: either he was having the consequences of a fit or was foreboding one». It is clear that Machado presented localized symptomatic epilepsy with complex partial seizures secondarily generalized of unknown etiology. The seizures which began in infancy or childhood had remission in adolescence and then recurred in his thirties and became more frequent in his later years. His depression got markedly worse with age. In our opinion, the greatest consequence of Machado's epilepsy, was his psychological suffering due to the prejudice of the times. Despite this Machado showed all his genius, which is still actual and universal.

This article presents a numerical study for the Petrobras HP-HT pipeline P-53/PRA-1 that will be installed at Marlim Leste field in Campos Basin offshore Brazil. This pipeline will connect P-53 platform in deep-water (1031m) to an Autonomous Platform for Intermediate Pumping (PRA-1) in shallow water (100m). HP-HT pipelines resting on seabed can develop thermal buckling, which is an important concern for the pipeline structural integrity. The aim of this study is to verify the P-53/PRA-1 pipeline behavior during lateral buckling due to thermal cycles and pressure variations, using a new approach for the pipe-soil interaction model in contrast with the traditional Mohr-Coulomb friction model. The pipe-soil interaction model considers soil berms formed due to pipe cyclic displacements, representing different phases of the soil lateral reaction force versus displacement curve: breakout force, suction release, berm formation and residual resistance. The results presented compare the traditional Mohr-Coulomb model with the proposed one for several loads cycles, analyzing displacements, stresses and strains behavior during thermal buckling.

This paper deals with the interaction pattern between teacher and students in the real classroom lessons. This study was primarily conducted to determine the patterns of classroom interaction produced by the teachers and learners during the class sessions in the bilingual middle-school classrooms in Medan City, Indonesia. The data were spoken texts of teachers from five video-recorded classes (Mathematics, Physics, Biology, English and IT/TIK) during the period of even semester, and were then analyzed by applying the Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories System (FIACS) ‘Interaction Model’ following the frame works proposed by Flanders (1970). From the data analysis, it was found that the talk was dominated by teachers, particularly on the categories of no 4, 5, and 6, while students practiced no 8 mostly, and it also indicated that instructor expressions were very overwhelming in each example of assignments amid the class sessions, while understudies reactions or different properties were moderately low in rates in an educator centered classroom aside from in the scene no. 5 (IT Lesson) where understudies took the greater part of the cooperation among peers. The examination likewise demonstrates that elicitation, reaction, and input were deliberately utilized by instructor, and understudies were a piece of the structure of classroom talk exercises. The example, notwithstanding, could be changed relying upon the educator expectation or the times of lesson that understudies learn.

A law (written law) was never full, clear and complete set of community life, so it is always lagging behind follows the development of society. To keep abreast of it, the law should always be developed in order to remain update and relevant to the times. Implementation and development of legislation going through the verdict (jurisprudence) in the judicial process. In other words, jurisprudence intended as legal development, to meet the legal needs of justice seeker. Implementation of the functions of law enforcement and justice as well as the function of legal discovery (rechtsvinding) embodied in a verdict (jurisprudence), should refer to Pancasila as the norm of fundamental state (staatsfundamentalnorm) or wisdom / genius of the national (national wisdom / national genius) and 1945 as the basic law of the state, so that the decision reflects the sense of justice of the nation and the people of Indonesia as well. It declares a political manifestation of the law in a verdict.
