Sound quality analysis is an invaluable tool for the product designer. This tool is designed to help determine customer preferences, which can help the designer improve product quality, or the consumers’ perception of the product’s quality. Many industries desire to know how the consuming public perceives their product as this affects the product life and viability. This paper will present which of two brands of sewing machines ranging in market segments from entry-level, thru mid-level machines, to high-end computer controlled units, is the most acoustically pleasant. Results across market segments independent of brand will be evaluated and compared, as well. The methods used to determine the sound quality of these machines will be presented. These methods are both jury based listening tests and quantitative sound quality metrics.

This paper aims to identify the attributes that describe aircraft interior noise, determine most important psychoacoustic models that characterize cabin sounds, and construct a prediction model that can be utilized for VIP and business jets to evaluate subjective perception. In the first part, paired comparison listening tests and free verbalization are conducted with expert subjects who experienced VIP and business aircraft flight. The study generated a list of adjective pairs that describe perception of cabin sounds to be used for semantic differential listening tests. Multi-dimensional scaling is performed on paired comparison data. Results showed that subjects’ decisions can be categorized in loudness and annoyance dimensions which are not necessarily linearly associated. The second part of the study is the development of a sound quality prediction model for aircraft cabin. Semantic differential tests are conducted with potential customers. Objective sound quality metrics are correlated to subjective test responses using principal components regression. This model is found to be most effective explaining pleasantness, comfort, and loudness perception. It is intended to be utilized to modify/redesign noise control treatments and sound signature of an aircraft. All listening tests were conducted inside an aircraft cabin simulator considering the influence of visual content.

The Canadian Grain Commission conducts an annual harvest survey to determine the quality of each year's malting barley crop. Throughout the year, quality testing is also performed on export shipments of malting barley as part of a quality monitoring program. The testing protocol includes barley quality parameters as well as micro-malting and malt quality analysis. In this study, results from the two surveys were compared over an 11-yr period. Overall, the harvest survey was a reliable predictor of the quality of barley exports. Barley quality was more closely correlated between the two surveys than malt quality. Several factors were identified which contributed to differences between the two survey programs.

The sensory perception of products influences the relationship of potential users or buyers with these products. Sound quality is part of this sensory experience and is critical for products such as sports or utility vehicles as the sound conveys the impression of power or efficiency, among others. Therefore, there is a need to provide tools based on scientific methodology to acoustical engineers designing such vehicles. The motivation of this work was the need to explore new and faster methods for quicker and simpler sound quality evaluation. In this paper, the sound quality of side-by-side utility vehicles is investigated using the rapid sensory profile measurement method, and then by creating virtual participants using bootstrapping methods. Additionally, this study also investigates the effect of loudness equalization of the sound samples used during the listening tests. Results from these studies were used to establish the sensory profiles, desire-to-buy values and desirable sound profiles regarding the tested vehicles. Equalized loudness tests provide a finer sensory profile than those obtained using non-equalized sound samples. Furthermore, statistical analysis results confirm that adding virtual participants to the original data using a bootstrapping approach helps highlighting key information without altering the validity of the results.

Business competition is increasingly fierce, demanding that companies must provide the best products and services to customers. The quality of a product or service is an essential aspect for the continuity of a business, especially those attribute items that are directly felt by customers when purchasing or using a product. This study was aimed to analyze the quality of service to customers in a hospital-based on customer preferences. Customer assessment of each hospital quality indicator was performed through filling out questionnaires by inpatients, to determine the gap between the importance and performance levels. The analytical method used was Importance-Performance Analysis-IPA. As many as 25 quality indicators are identified from SERVQUAL. The quality dimension that becomes a priority for improved performance is related to Reliability, Assurance, and Empathy.

The study aims to determine the quality of clean water in the villages of Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu and Halong by comparing the result of water quality analysis with water quality standard. Water quality analysis includes Physiscal, Chemical, and Microbiological parameters. This research uses descriptive method, this method describes systematics, accurate about facts and characteristic of the quality of clean water of each research location. The results showed that the source of clean water in the village of Batumerah did not meet the standard of clean water quality standards indicated by the number of E. coli and the high total coliform.  Keywords: standard quality of clean water, water quality, Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu and Halong villages   ABSTRAK Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menetapkan kualitas air bersih di Desa Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu dan Halong, dengan membandingkan hasil analisis kualitas air dengan standar baku mutu air bersih. Analisis kualitas air meliputi parameter fisika, kimia dan mikrobiologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif; metode ini menggambarkan sicara sistematis, akurat, fakta dan karakteristik mengenai kualitas air bersih di masing-masing lokasi penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sumber air bersih di Desa Batumerah tidak memenuhi standar baku mutu air bersih yang ditunjukkan oleh jumlah E. coli dan total Koliform yang tinggi. Objectives: The Internet, especially YouTube, is an important and growing source of medical information. The content of this information is poorly evaluated. The objective of this study was to analyze the quality of YouTube video content on meniscus repair. The hypothesis was that this source of information is not relevant for patients. Methods: A YouTube search was carried out using the keywords "meniscus repair". Videos had to have had more than 10,000 views to be included. The videos were analyzed by two evaluators. Various features of the videos were recorded (number of views, date of publication, "likes", "don’t likes", number of comments, source, type of content and the origin of the video). The quality of the video content was analyzed by two validated information system scores: the JAMA benchmark score (0 to 4) and the Modified DISCERN score (0 to 5). A specific meniscus repair score (MRSS scored out of 22) was developed for this study, in the same way that a specific score has been developed for other similar studies (anterior cruciate ligament, spine, etc.). Results: Forty-four (44) videos were included in the study. The average number of views per video was 180,100 (± 222,000) for a total number of views of 7,924,095. The majority of the videos were from North America (90.9%). In most cases, the source (uploader) that published the video was a doctor (59.1%). A manufacturer, an institution and a non-medical source were the other sources. The content actually contained information on meniscus repair in only 50% of the cases. The mean scores for the JAMA benchmark, MD score and MRSS were 1.6/4± 0.75, 1.2/5 ± 1.02 and 4.5/22 (± 4.01) respectively. No correlation was found between the number of views and the quality of the videos. The quality of videos from medical sources was not superior to those from other sources. Conclusion: The content of YouTube videos on meniscus repair is of very low quality. Physicians should inform patients and, more importantly, contribute to the improvement of these contents.

The use and quality analysis of household compost have become very important issues in recent years due to the increasing interest in local food production and safe, self-produced food. The phenomenon was further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine period, which gave new impetus to the growth of small home gardens. However, the knowledge associated with making high-quality compost is often lacking in home gardeners. Therefore, the objective of this research was to find answers to the following questions: can the quality of backyard compost be considered safe in terms of toxicity and nutrient content? Can weed seed dispersion affect the usability of backyard compost? In general, can the circulation of organic matter be increased with the spread of home composting? In this study, 16 different house composts were analysed for stability, weed seed contamination, toxic elements, and nutrient content using analysis of variance. The results of the research showed that the quality properties of the composts (including their weed seed dispersion effect) were greatly influenced by the different techniques and raw materials used. The toxicity levels, as well as the content of macro and microelements, were within the parameters of safe-quality compost. The specific macronutrient (Ca, Mg) and micronutrient (Fe, Mn) contents of the tested composts have a similar and, in some cases, more favorable nutrient supply capacity in crop production than the frequently-used cow manure-based composts. With a plan of basic education on composting, there is potential to encourage farmyard composting.

Abstract We re-assess the gender system of Ogbe-Oloma, an Edoid village variety of Nigeria. System exponents are prefixes that define form class and reflect grammatical number. We find that eight agreement classes undergird fourteen genders, while seventeen nominal form classes frame twenty-five number inflections. Prefix mapping from inflection to gender is non-isomorphic. Mapping is however constrained by syllable shape, CV- versus V-, and alliterative sound quality of prefix consonant, not vowel. In addition, several number inflections trigger agreement in multiple genders leading to one gender that exclusively refers to nouns with human reference.

While the industry faced driver shortage largely due to long stays away from home, Rivigo hoped to attract drivers by offering them roles which would bring them back home in 24 hours. Drivers would be part of a relay, handing over the truck at pit stops. Further, they leveraged an IT-enabled IoT platform on a fleet of owned trucks. All this revolutionized most of the traditions then followed in the industry. The entrepreneur and his core team comprised professionals from premium institutes of the country, with experience in professional organizations in related domains. By offering services like assured delivery at half the time and full shipment visibility, Rivigo had to charge a premium to market segments that would value this. The case raises the question of sustainability in the future.

Breast cancer is one of the major causes of death among women. If a cancer can be detected early, the options of treatment and the chances of total recovery will increase. From a woman's point of view, the procedure practiced (compression of breasts to record an image) to obtain a digital mammogram (DM) is exactly the same that is used to obtain a screen film mammogram (SFM). The quality of DM is undoubtedly better than SFM. However, obtaining DM is costlier and very few institutions can afford DM machines. According to the National Cancer Institute 92% of breast imaging centers in India do not have digital mammography machines and they depend on the conventional SFM. Hence in this context, one should answer "Can SFM be enhanced up to a level of DM?" In this paper, we discuss our experimental analysis in this regard. We applied elementary image enhancement techniques to obtain enhanced SFM. We performed the quality analysis of DM and enhanced SFM using standard metrics like PSNR and RMSE on more than 350 mammograms. We also used mean opinion score (MOS) analysis to evaluate enhanced SFMs. The results showed that the clarity of processed SFM is as good as DM. Furthermore, we analyzed the extent of radiation exposed during SFM and DM. We presented our literally findings and clinical observations.
