The Canadian Grain Commission conducts an annual harvest survey to determine the quality of each year's malting barley crop. Throughout the year, quality testing is also performed on export shipments of malting barley as part of a quality monitoring program. The testing protocol includes barley quality parameters as well as micro-malting and malt quality analysis. In this study, results from the two surveys were compared over an 11-yr period. Overall, the harvest survey was a reliable predictor of the quality of barley exports. Barley quality was more closely correlated between the two surveys than malt quality. Several factors were identified which contributed to differences between the two survey programs.

AbstractIn this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a statistical model based on Internet of Things (IoT) for water quality analysis of river Krishna using different water quality parameters such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, biochemical oxygen demand, total dissolved solids and conductivity. These parameters are very important to assess the water quality of the river. The water quality data were collected from six stations of river Krishna in the state of Karnataka. River Krishna is the fourth largest river in India with approximately 1400 km of length and flows from its origin toward Bay of Bengal. In our study, we have considered only stretch of river Krishna flowing in state of Karnataka, i.e., length of about 483 km. In recent years, the mineral-rich river basin is subjected to rapid industrialization, thus polluting the river basin. The river water is bound to get polluted from various pollutants such as the urban waste water, agricultural waste and industrial waste, thus making it unusable for anthropogenic activities. The traditional manual technique that is under use is a very slow process. It requires staff to collect the water samples from the site and take them to the laboratory and then perform the analysis on various water parameters which is costly and time-consuming process. The timely information about water quality is thus unavailable to the people in the river basin area. This creates a perfect opportunity for swift real-time water quality check through analysis of water samples collected from the river Krishna. IoT is one of the ways with which real-time monitoring of water quality of river Krishna can be done in quick time. In this paper, we have emphasized on IoT-based water quality monitoring by applying the statistical analysis for the data collected from the river Krishna. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and two-way ANOVA were applied for the data collected, and found that one-way ANOVA was more effective in carrying out water quality analysis. The hypotheses that are drawn using ANOVA were used for water quality analysis. Further, these analyses can be used to train the IoT system so that it can take the decision whenever there is abnormal change in the reading of any of the water quality parameters.

The quality of Canadian malting barley has continually improved since malt barley was exported in the late 1800s. Improvements were linked to a dynamic evaluation system that evolved with a better understanding of malting biochemistry and as suitable methods were developed. Methods became more accurate and more specific in their ability to define quality. They progressed from sensory evaluation, to surmising malt quality from barley protein levels, to the first micro-maltings followed by automated laboratory-scale maltings. Malt quality analysis started simply with malt extract and diastatic power followed by wort protein. As the necessity for cell wall breakdown became better understood, analyses like wort viscosity, fine/coarse grind extract differences and wort β-glucan were adopted. A continuum of cultivars were released in Canada, based on this evaluation system, starting with the six-rowed releases OAC 21, then Montcalm and Bonanza, followed by the two-rowed releases Betzes, Klages, Harrington and AC Metcalfe. Release of future cultivars will depend on an evolving evaluation system that could include; barley homogeneity, specific starch-degrading enzymes, individual amino acids and specific traits such as low lipoxygenase and low phytic acid barley. The result will be development and release of cultivars with better defined quality that can fill specialized niches in the malting and brewing industries of the future.

Agriculture is one of the fields that still dominates Indonesia as an agricultural country. As a substantial actor in agriculture, many farmers have not met their daily needs. This study examines the quality of alternative business training models for farmworkers using a community empowerment system. This study is part of research and development focused on product quality testing. The training model that the researcher has designed is then tested on validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The participants involved in this study were farm labourers in 2 sub-districts in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, namely Pammana and Tanasitolo sub-districts as many as 15 farm workers, two observers, and three agricultural experts. Furthermore, the instruments used in this study were: (1) validation sheet, (2) model implementation observation sheet, (3) farmworker response questionnaire, and (4) knowledge test. The data that has been collected is then analyzed quantitatively using SPSS 23.00 software. The study results show that the training model that this researcher has designed is valid, practical, and effective in increasing the knowledge of farmworkers and can be used for a broader range of users.

Purpose. The study aimed to evaluate the visual quality of forme fruste keratoconus (FFK) and mild and moderate keratoconus by using an optical quality analysis system II (OQAS-II) and to explore the correlation between optical quality parameters and the disease progression. Methods. Twenty-one normal eyes, twenty-one FFK eyes, twenty-one mild keratoconus eyes, and twenty-one moderate keratoconus eyes were included in this prospective study. The optical quality parameters, such as object scatter index (OSI), modulation transfer function cutoff (MTF cutoff), strehl ratio (SR), and OQAS-II values at contrasts of 100% (OV-100), 20% (OV-20), and 9% (OV-9), were measured by OQAS-II. The repeatability of these parameters was analyzed by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), repeatability coefficient (RC), and coefficient of variation (CVw). Correlations between optical quality parameters and mean central keratometry readings (Kmean) were evaluated. The sensitivity and specificity of the parameters were analyzed using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC). Results. All the optical quality parameters among four groups showed good repeatability (all ICC≥0.75). The MTF cutoff, SR, OV-100, OV-20, OV-9 in FFK, mild and moderate keratoconus eyes were significantly lower than those in the normal group (all P<0.05). The ROC analyses of the MTF cutoff, SR, OV-100, OV-20, and OV-9 showed significant area under the curve (AUC) in discriminating FFK form normal, mild keratoconus from FFK, and moderate keratoconus from mild keratoconus (all P<0.05). The OSI in mild and moderate keratoconus eyes were significantly higher than that in FFK and normal group (all P<0.05), while the OSI showed no significant difference between the FFK group and normal group (P>0.05). The ROC analyses of the OSI showed significant AUC in discriminating mild keratoconus from FFK and moderate keratoconus from mild keratoconus (all P<0.05). In addition, the MTF cutoff was closely correlated to Kmean in keratoconus eyes (r = −0.710, P<0.001). Conclusion. The repeatability of OQAS-II is good in measuring visual quality of normal as well as FFK, mild, and moderate keratoconus. The visual quality of the FFK, mild, and moderate keratoconus is worse than that in normal eyes. The OQAS-II has the potential value in screening FFK from normal eyes and might be a useful tool for evaluating the progression of keratoconus.

Registries are indispensable in medical studies and provide the basis for reliable study results for research questions. Depending on the purpose of use, a high quality of data is a prerequisite. However, with increasing registry quality, costs also increase accordingly. Considering these time and cost factors, this work is an attempt to estimate the cost advantages of applying statistical tools to existing registry data, including quality evaluation. Results for quality analysis showed that there are unquestionable savings of millions in study costs by reducing the time horizon and saving on average € 523,126 for every reduced year. Replacing additionally the over 25 % missing data in some variables, data quality was immensely improved. To conclude, our findings showed dearly the importance of data quality and statistical input in avoiding biased conclusions due to incomplete data.

Relevance. The need to increase vaccination coverage in order to eliminate measles in Russia and increase public confidence in vaccination requires constant monitoring of the quality of vaccines used for measles prevention. Aim. Analysis of laboratory quality parameters of commercial series of vaccines for measles prevention produced by JSC NPO Microgen, issued from 2015 to 2020, in comparison with the series issued in the period from 2002 to 2009. Materials and methods. The object of the study was a live measles culture vaccine and a live mumps-measles culture vaccine produced by JSC «NPO «Microgen». The quality analysis of vaccines was carried out according to the consolidated production and control protocols of 422 series of measles vaccine and 855 series of mumps-measles vaccine issued in 2015-2020, and 1043 series of measles vaccine and 902 series of mumpsmeasles vaccine issued in 2002-2009. Results and discussion. It is shown that the quality of the studied vaccines is stable during 16 years of monitoring. The sensitizing properties of both vaccines significantly decreased during the last 6 years of follow-up due to a decrease in the residual content of the antibiotic in the vaccination dose to less than the detection limit, as well as due to the low content of heterogeneous protein (bovine serum albumin). Conclusion. The quality of domestic vaccines for the prevention of measles and mumps meets who requirements; it is characterized by stability over 16 years of follow-up and minimal sensitizing properties. Information about the quality of domestic vaccines for the prevention of measles is an important argument for countering the antivaccination movement, which is a global problem and is recognized by who as one of the most important threats to the health of the world's population.

This paper investigates about water quality monitoring system through a wireless sensor network. Due to the rapid development and urbanization, the quality of water is getting degrade over year by year, and it leads to water-borne diseases, and it creates a bad impact. Water plays a vital role in our human society and India 65% of the drinking water comes from underground sources, so it is mandatory to check the quality of the water. In this model used to test the water samples and through the data it analyses the quality of the water. This paper delivers a power efficient, effective solution in the domain of water quality monitoring it also provides an alarm to a remote user, if there is any deviation of water quality parameters.

In this work, a set of physical, chemical and biological parameters were analysed for Khirisan river from the period extending from December 2017up to November 2018. The samples were selected from three different sites, agricultural, commercial and residential area to assess the water quality of the river for drinking and irrigation purposes. The study showed that a number of diversity factors were recognized which have a direct effect on the quality of Khirisan river. This includes the catchment feeding area of the river, untreated domestic sewage from the restaurants, cafeterias and government buildings which are adjacent to the river. Water quality of Khirisan river, according to the Iraqi and international standards, satisfies the limits of the rules of the drinking purposes for all studied parameters except the values of calcium ions and total hardness value for some rainy months as well as to organic load. The mean values of BOD5 and COD for the three sites were 7.7 and 36 mg/l. In terms of irrigation purposes, the water quality of the river can be considered low to medium damage in terms of salinity and sodium hazards. In terms of chloride risk, there are no toxicity problems to the roots and leaves of the plants. Therefore, it requires a continual intensive water quality monitoring program to reduce its impact.

The variety Parkland, which was licensed for sale in Canada in 1956, is equal to O.A.C. 21 in malting quality. This variety was tested for 6 years under a wide environmental range in Western Canada and is similar to O.A.C. 21 in barley, malting and malt properties. Parkland has the advantage of yielding a higher malt extract.Parkland is the first malting barley to be produced in Canada by the coordinated efforts of the plant breeder and cereal chemist at all stages of development. Prediction and malting tests proved valuable in providing the plant breeder with information on parents and hybrid lines, thus enabling him to make better selections in his crossing program. Details of quality testing of the various parents and the variety are given.

The quality of pig iron from the point of view of the customer, that is steel plant, is one of main factors affecting the quality and cost of steel production. Chemical composition and temperature of pig iron is among the parameters taking into consideration. The constancy of these parameters can result in steelmaking process on optimal level. The paper presents quantitative and quantitative analysis of pig iron produced in one of Polish steelworks. Analysis of the basic quality parameters of pig iron: the content of basic elements will be made. In the analysis statistical methods and quality tools will be applied.
