The paper presents the concept of recursive Lyapunov function. The concept is applied to investigation of asymptotic stability problem of autonomous systems. The sequence of functions {Uα(i)} and corresponding performance measures λ(i) are introduced. It is proven that λ(i+1) ≤ λ(i) and in most cases the inequality is a strong one. This fact leads to a concept of a recursive Lyapunov function. For the very important applications case of exponential stability the procedure is effective under very weak conditions imposed on the function V = U(0). The procedure may be particularly applicable for the systems dependent on parameters, when the Lyapunov function determined from one set of parameters may be employed at the first step of the procedure.

In this paper, a Lyapunov-based method is provided to study the local asymptotic stability of planar piecewise affine systems with continuous vector fields. For such systems, the state space is supposed to be partitioned into several bounded convex polytopes. A piecewise affine function, not necessarily continuous on the boundaries of the polytopic partitions, is proposed as a candidate Lyapunov function. Then, sufficient conditions for the local asymptotic stability of the system, including a monotonicity condition at switching instants, are formulated as a linear programming problem. In addition, when the problem does not have a feasible solution based on the original partitions of the system, a new partition refinement algorithm is presented. In this way, more flexibility can be provided in searching for the Lyapunov function. Owing to relaxation of the continuity condition imposed on the system boundaries, the proposed method reaches to less conservative results, compared with the previous methods based on continuous piecewise affine Lyapunov functions. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

For the 𝔰𝔬(4) free rigid body the stability problem for the isolated equilibria has been completely solved using Lie-theoretical and topological arguments. For each case of nonlinear stability previously found, we construct a Lyapunov function. These Lyapunov functions are linear combinations of Mishchenko's constants of motion.

We address the problem of asymptotic stability and region-of-attraction analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems. A hybrid symbolic-numeric method is presented to compute exact Lyapunov functions and exact estimates of regions of attraction of nonlinear systems efficiently. A numerical Lyapunov function and an estimate of region of attraction can be obtained by solving an (bilinear) SOS programming via BMI solver, then the modified Newton refinement and rational vector recovery techniques are applied to obtain exact Lyapunov functions and verified estimates of regions of attraction with rational coefficients. Experiments on some benchmarks are given to illustrate the efficiency of our algorithm.

This paper deals with the stability problem for a class of impulsive neural networks. Some sufficient conditions which can guarantee the globally exponential stability of the addressed models with given convergence rate are derived by using Lyapunov function and impulsive analysis techniques. Finally, an example is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results.

A criterion for the uniform asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point of impulsive delayed Hopfield neural networks is presented by using Lyapunov functions and linear matrix inequality approach. The criterion is a less restrictive version of a recent result. By means of constructing the extended impulsive Halanay inequality, we also analyze the exponential stability of impulsive delayed Hopfield neural networks. Some new sufficient conditions ensuring exponential stability of the equilibrium point of impulsive delayed Hopfield neural networks are obtained. An example showing the effectiveness of the present criterion is given.

The problem ofpth mean exponential stability and stabilizability of a class of stochastic nonlinear and bilinear hybrid systems with unstable and stable subsystems is considered. Sufficient conditions for thepth mean exponential stability and stabilizability under a feedback control and stabilizing switching rules are derived. A method for the construction of stabilizing switching rules based on the Lyapunov technique and the knowledge of regions of decreasing the Lyapunov functions for subsystems is given. Two cases, including single Lyapunov function and a a single Lyapunov-like function, are discussed. Obtained results are illustrated by examples.

The paper is devoted to studying the exponential stability of a mild solution of stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion with an aperiodically intermittent control. The aperiodically intermittent control is added into the drift coefficients, when intermittent intervals and coefficients satisfy suitable conditions; by use of the G-Lyapunov function, the p-th exponential stability is obtained. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the availability of the obtained results.

AbstractIn this paper, the pth moment exponential stability for a class of impulsive delayed Hopfield neural networks is investigated. Some concise algebraic criteria are provided by a new method concerned with impulsive integral inequalities. Our discussion neither requires a complicated Lyapunov function nor the differentiability of the delay function. In addition, we also summarize a new result on the exponential stability of a class of impulsive integral inequalities. Finally, one example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Many processes are mathematically simulated by systems of discrete equations with quadratic right-hand sides. Their stability is thought of as a very important characterization of the process. In this paper, the method of Lyapunov functions is used to derive classes of stable quadratic discrete autonomous systems in a critical case in the presence of a simple eigenvalueλ=1of the matrix of linear terms. In addition to the stability investigation, we also estimate stability domains.
