The development of inspection and quality checking using machine vision technique are discussed where the design of the algorithm mainly to detect the sign of defect when a sample product is used for inspection purposes. There are several constraints that a machine need to be improved based on technology used in vision application. CMOS image sensor as well as programming language and open source computer vision library were used in designing the inspection method. Experimental set-up was conducted to test the proposed technique for evaluate the effectiveness process. The experimental results were obtained and represented in graphical and image processing form. Besides, analysis and discussion were made according to obtained results. The proposed technique is able to perform the inspection process using good and defect ceramic cup based on detection technique. Moreover, based on the analysis gathered, the proposed technique able to differentiate between good and defect ceramic cup. The result shows that there is a difference frequency by 236 which is 2% of total value in pixels frequency. The frequency indicated as pixel frequency of image using histogram method based on scaled value of image.

This study proposes a weld defect inspection method based on a combination of machine vision and weak magnetic technology to inspect the quality of weld formation comprehensively. In accordance with the principle of laser triangulation, surface information about the weldment is obtained, the weld area is extracted using mutation characteristics of the weld edge and an algorithm for identifying defects with abnormal average height in the weld surface is proposed. Subsequently, a welding seam inspection process is developed and implemented, which is composed of a camera, a structured light sensor, a magnetic sensor and a motion control system. Inspection results from an austenitic stainless steel weldment show that the method combining machine vision and magnetism can identify defect locations accurately. Comprehensive analysis of the test results can effectively classify surface and internal defects, estimate the equivalent sizes of defects and evaluate the quality of weld formation in multiple dimensions.

In this aggressive global the manufactures need to deliver their product in a shorter term. To fulfill the customers, the manufacture must reduce the unnecessary process time and the errors. In this paper, the clutch operating lever production line in an automobile industry was analysed. The bottleneck operation was found in a fixture design and during the inspection process. A new fixture and an inspection gauge are designed to reduce the setup and inspection time the clutch production. The overall loading and set up change over time is reduced by the newly designed fixture which reduces the end-line defects and saves time and effort. The productivity is highly increased by 55% by the newly designed fixture and the inspection rate is boosted by 80% and the rejection rate is reduced by 83% which is proven by the comparison to older methods

The paper is intended to provide an overview of advanced robotic technologies within the context of Postal Automation services. The main functional requirements of the application are briefly referred, as well as the state of the art and new emerging solutions. Image Processing and Pattern Recognition have always played a fundamental role in Address Interpretation and Mail sorting and the new challenging objective is now off-line handwritten cursive recognition, in order to be able to handle all kind of addresses in a uniform way. On the other hand, advanced electromechanical and robotic solutions are extremely important to solve the problems of mail storage, transportation and distribution, as well as for material handling and logistics. Finally a short description of new services of Postal Automation is referred, by considering new emerging services of hybrid mail and paper to electronic conversion.

Abstract This work intends to apprehend and emphasize the contribution of image-processing techniques and computer vision in the treatment of clay-based material known in Meknes region. One of the various characteristics used to describe clay in a qualitative manner is porosity, as it is considered one of the properties that with “kill or cure” effectiveness. For this purpose, we use scanning electron microscopy images, as they are considered the most powerful tool for characterising the quality of the microscopic pore structure of porous materials. We present various existing methods of segmentation, as we are interested only in pore regions. The results show good matching between physical estimation and Voronoi diagram-based porosity estimation.
