To the Editor.— We read with interest the recent article in Pediatrics.1 The authors present a case of aortic thrombosis associated with umbilical catheterization in a newborn delivered to a cocaine-addicted mother. We agree with the authors that the presence of an arterial catheter is the most likely cause of the arterial thrombosis, whereas cocaine may have had an additional vasoconstrictive effect. It would be interesting to know whether any placental infarct had been noted at the time of delivery.
