Background Dislocations of the sternoclavicular joint (anterior/posterior) and acromioclavicular joint (SCJ and ACJ, respectively) are rare injuries in childhood/adolescence, each having its own special characteristics. In posterior SCJ dislocation, the concomitant injuries in the upper mediastinum are most important complication, while in anterior SCJ dislocation there is a risk of permanent or recurrent instability. Methods In a retrospective analysis from seven pediatric trauma centers under the leadership of the Section of Pediatric Traumatology of the German Trauma Society, children (<18 years) were analyzed with focus on age, gender, trauma mechanism, diagnostics, treatment strategy and follow-up results. Additional epidemiological big data analysis from routine data was done. Results In total 24 cases with an average age of 14.4 years (23 boys, 1 girl) could be evaluated (7x ACJ dislocation type ≥ Rockwood III; 17x SCJ dislocation type Allman III, including 12 posterior). All ACJ dislocations were treated surgically. Postoperative immobilization lasted 3–6 weeks, after which a movement limit of 90 degrees was recommended until implant removal. Patients with SCJ dislocation were posterior dislocations in 75%, and 15 of 17 were treated surgically. One patient had a tendency toward sub-dislocation and another had a relapse. Conservatively treated injuries healed without complications. Compared to adults, SCJ injuries were equally rarely found in children (< 1% of clavicle-associated injuries), while pediatric ACJ dislocations were significantly less frequent (p<0.001). Conclusions In cases of SCJ dislocations, our cohort analysis confirmed both the heterogeneous spectrum of the treatment strategies in addition to the problems/complications based on previous literature. The indication for the operative or conservative approach and for the specific method is not standardized. In order to be able to create evidence-based standards, a prospective, multicenter-study with a sufficiently long follow-up time would be necessary due to the rarity of these injuries in children. The rarity was emphasized by our routine data analysis.

Abstract. Recent advancements in atmospheric mass spectrometry provide huge amounts of new information but at the same time present considerable challenges for the data analysts. High-resolution (HR) peak identification and separation can be effort- and time-consuming yet still tricky and inaccurate due to the complexity of overlapping peaks, especially at larger mass-to-charge ratios. This study presents a simple and novel method, mass spectral binning combined with positive matrix factorization (binPMF), to address these problems. Different from unit mass resolution (UMR) analysis or HR peak fitting, which represent the routine data analysis approaches for mass spectrometry datasets, binPMF divides the mass spectra into small bins and takes advantage of the positive matrix factorization's (PMF) strength in separating different sources or processes based on different temporal patterns. In this study, we applied the novel approach to both ambient and synthetic datasets to evaluate its performance. It not only succeeded in separating overlapping ions but was found to be sensitive to subtle variations as well. Being fast and reliable, binPMF has no requirement for a priori peak information and can save much time and effort from conventional HR peak fitting, while still utilizing nearly the full potential of HR mass spectra. In addition, we identify several future improvements and applications for binPMF and believe it will become a powerful approach in the data analysis of mass spectra.

The paper introduces the results of the research focused on cash benefits for sickness and maternity in selected Member States of the European Union during the financial crisis and concerns the economic and demographic data. The aim was to determine whether and to what extent the expected austerity measures touched the monitored social area. For the paper we studied the situation from 2009 to 2014, especially in relation to employees and employers. Regarding the methods of the research, the authors gathered the data obtained from the relevant legal, statistical and other printed documents as well as the documents from the website of the European Union, relevant national ministries, social insurance companies, sickness funds and similar institutions. They undertook a legal, economic and demographic data analysis and consequently its comparisons as well as the final evaluation.

This research is carried out in Janti, Polanharjo, Klaten, Central Java. Most of the female population of this area work as employees in manual industry of towel. The existence of the manual industry of towel enables the female labor force living in the area to have an opportunity to be employees at the industry, as indicated in the population structure that most of the population work as employees of the industry. The aim of this reasearch is to know the characteristic of the population in acordance with age, education, working hours, and experiences. Another aim is to know wage or income, expense of income, employees rights, and the other factors. The method used in this research is survey method with the number of a given sample, where as the data analysis used frequency and cross table. The result of the research indicates that most of the respondents are 20 – 25 years of age. The educational level of the respondents at the average of 40 hours a week, they have worked effectively for 7 – 9 years. The reason is in part they want to meet their daily needs and the other part they consider their jobs are easy to do and accept. The average of their incomes ranges from Rp 20.000 – Rp 50.000 a week. The factors influencing the different of income depend on the seniority and the amount of orking hours. Most of their incomes are spent on primary needs. Their right includes getting a meal once a day and working social insurance, but they don’t get health insurance.
