In this article, position and attitude tracking control of the quadrotor subject to complex nonlinearities, input couplings, aerodynamic uncertainties, and external disturbances coupled with faults in multiple motors is investigated. A robustified nonlinear dynamic inversion (NDI)-based fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme is proposed for the purpose. The proposed scheme is not only robust against aforementioned nonlinearities, disturbances, and uncertainties but also tolerant to unexpected occurrence of faults in multiple motors. The proposed scheme employs uncertainty and disturbance estimator (UDE) technique to robustify the NDI-based controller by providing estimate of the lumped disturbance, thereby enabling rejection of the same. In addition, the UDE also plays the role of fault detection and identification module. The effectiveness and benefits of the proposed design are confirmed through 6-DOF simulations and experimentation on a 3-DOF Hover platform.

Role of Configurable Distributed Checkout and Launch System (CDCLS) is pivotal in carrying out quick health checks and launching of Aerospace Flight Vehicles. Configurable Distributed Architecture provides flexibility for connecting nodes and scaling Distributed System. Different configurations can be derived from the Master Configuration. Since, Ultra high reliability and infallible performance of the CDCLS is of paramount importance, Safety criticality and Mission criticality analysis needs to be carried out for determination of mission critical parameters. These critical parameters need to be addressed by required fault tolerant architecture, which can be implemented in Hardware and Software for achieving system reliability objective (Say, 0.99).

AbstractEmpirical research has shown that the processing of words and sentences is accompanied by activation of the brain's motor system in language users. The degree of precision observed in this activation seems to be contingent upon (1) the meaning of a linguistic construction and (2) the depth with which readers process that construction. In addition, neurological evidence shows a correspondence between a disruption in the neural correlates of overt action and the disruption of semantic processing of language about action. These converging lines of evidence can be taken to support the hypotheses that motor processes (1) are recruited to understand language that focuses on actions and (2) contribute a unique element to conceptual representation. This article explores the role of this motor recruitment in language comprehension. It concludes that extant findings are consistent with the theorized existence of multimodal, embodied representations of the referents of words and the meaning carried by language. Further, an integrative conceptualization of “fault tolerant comprehension” is proposed.

This paper describes the design and development of a design repository software system. This system is a prototype implementation intended to demonstrate the role of design repositories as part of a vision for the next generation of product development software systems. This research involves not only the creation of a prototype software system, but is part of a broader effort that also includes the development of a core product knowledge representation, and that seeks to address terminological and semantic issues associated with computer-aided product development. This paper focuses on the interfaces that have been developed to support authoring and navigation of the product models stored in design repositories, as well as the software architecture and associated rationale that provide the framework on which the system is built.
