The development of the communication systems determines the economic level of the country. In Poland, despite the successive investments in this area, it is still not enough beneficial solutions to the road network and international calls. The problem of the acquisition of property for public roads on both the valuation principles and the way of obtaining land for these purposes is constantly modified. These changes are intended to simplify the procedures, which have a significant impact on shortening of the investment process. The current provisions of law give the possibility of the start of road investment before a property owner receives compensation for land taken for this purpose. This situation requires an inventory of component parts of the property for the purposes of their valuation. The paper presents the methodology of inventory the real estate components for the needs of their valuation using modern measurement techniques GNSS and GIS.

<P class=abstract>This study explored the capacity of Web-based, group communication systems to support case-based teaching and learning. Eleven graduate students studying at a distance were divided into three groups to collaborate on a case study using either a synchronous voice, an asynchronous voice, or a synchronous text communication system. Participants kept a detailed log of the time they spent on various activities, wrote a 1,500-word reflection on their experience, and participated in a group interview. Analysis of these data reveals that each group supplemented the system that had been assigned to them with additional communication systems in order to complete the project. Each of these systems were used strategically: email was used to share files and arrange meetings, and synchronous voice systems were used to brainstorm and make decisions. Learning achievement was high across groups and students enjoyed collaborating with others on a concrete task. Keywords: Distance Education, Case-based Learning, Collaboration Software, Online Learning.</P> <P>The evidence in favour of case-based teaching and learning continues to mount (cf. Lundeberg, Levin, and Harrington, 1999). One interesting facet of this research suggests that group discussions are the active ingredient of case study learning. For on-campus students this is simple to arrange, but where does it leave students who are studying at a distance? Case studies are often used in distance education, but traditionally they have been implemented in an independent mode, with students reading a problem-centred or exemplary narrative in order to contemplate its central issues. This type of case-based teaching omits what may be the most important part of case-based pedagogy.</P> <P>Fortunately, a wide array of Web-based communication software exists that supports various types of communication at a distance, including text or voice, person-to-person or multi-person, and synchronous or asynchronous interaction. The relative effectiveness of these systems to support collaboration among students is an important issue to distance educators.</P>

SummaryThe European Commission is an increasingly important source of funding for international research projects and is due to announce its Framework 5 program early in 1999. The Outcomes of Depression International Network (ODIN), funded from the current EC Biomed 2 program, is a case study in European academic co-operation. Its organization has three key elements. First, engaging the principal investigators: this has involved identifying potential partners, ensuring reciprocity of interests, effective co-ordination, `dividing the spoils' in advance, and setting up good personal and electronic communication systems. Second, an esprit de corps has been created amongst the researchers, maintaining contact and consistency, and promoting higher degrees. Third, ongoing problems including difficulties in negotiations with the EC, divergence of detailed study methods, and isolation and demoralization amongst researchers, have been addressed. ODIN may provide a useful model for researchers wishing to set up international collaborative groups.

A flower must be pollinated properly to produce seeds as final outcome of next germination to create new flowers and so on. Accordingly Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions and practices of an enterprise should be communicated with its stakeholders. CSR and CSR communication should go hand-by-hand. The recent business trend shows that businesses are becoming increasingly aware of CSR and CSR communication systems. Existing studies, firm’s case study and real world phenomenon also reveal that business houses and society are benefiting from CSR actions and communicating those with their stakeholders. This research explores CSR and CSR communicating strategies and finds that stakeholders have in-depth concerns about CSR. It’s interesting that popular CSR practices like charity and philanthropic actions have been replaced by environmental (carbon footprint, air and water pollution), legal    (complying regulatory imperatives) and ethical (promoting corporate ethics, norms and values) etc. Moreover, the study also shows that communicating CSR actions through CSR reporting, company annual reports or firm’s sustainability reports and advertising have become less fashionable means of exchanging CSR efforts while academic books (companies are cited as examples or extracted as referred case studies), newspaper, internet and third party (social, political, local government authorities) association have become more trusted ways of communicating CSR motives, practices and actions.

This article presents a new method of fast symbolic computations of very complex calculations, which are necessary for the analysis, simulation, and design of wireless communication systems using CAS (Computer Algebra System). CAS is applied to formulate hypotheses and define joint probability density functions of certain modulation technique. This is used to prepare for the semi-symbolic calculation to complete specify wireless system by using CAS. We have developed an iteration-based simulation method that aids to solve semisymbolic expressions and gives closed form solutions (with some parameters specified as numbers and some as symbols). So far, they are solved by numerical methods. Students can perform performance analysis and understand the processes in the data transfer. Engineers and researchers may have a better insight into the impact of the important parameters necessary to properly transmit and detect information unlike traditional numerical methods. The main contribution is to obtain solutions for the probability density function, and outage probability where no solution can be obtained using numerical methods. A strong emphasis is placed on very fast calculations that significantly save the time of analysis, simulation, and design.

In the last few years, increasing attention has been provided to research Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P) communication systems. These V2P systems serve different purposes (safety or convenience) and cater to different Vulnerable Road User (VRU) groups. Also, these V2P systems employ different communication technologies, and use different mechanisms to interact with the users. An effective V2P system also needs to consider varying characteristics of different VRUs. These various elements may be considered as design parameters of the V2P system. In this paper, we discuss such elements and propose a design framework for the V2P system based on them. We also provide an extensive survey of existing V2P efforts for safety and convenience applications and their design considerations. We perform a case study that compares the different approaches of V2P safety system for different VRU groups under different pre-crash scenarios. Finally, we discuss a few technological challenges in integration of VRUs into V2X systems.

The primary aim of this paper was to present and analyze practical solutions of Industry 4.0 as applied in the Re Alloys company. The research question was whether the implementation of the digitization process based on Industry 4.0 resulted in changes to the organizational structure of the company and whether this brought about an improvement in the energy and material efficiency of the company. The research method used in the paper was the case study method. In view of the project’s results, we concluded that implementation of the new solution based on digitalization caused increased energy and material efficiency, often forced by external factors stemming from the operation of competitive markets. Technological changes also require the application of IT technologies and communication systems in managing production. Access to this information is also a chance to gain a competitive advantage.

Social web tools are being leveraged by participants to communicate throughout their workday as well as during times of crisis. Using the London Bombings of 7 July 2005 as a case study, this chapter illustrates the need for sociotechnical interventions in systems design. By employing Actor Network Theory the author makes visible the active participants and technologies within the ecosystems of social media tools. Such visibility provides insight to the designer seeking to optimize communication systems in the wake of disaster, as well as providing further generalization to everyday use. Guidelines for improving systems and user interfaces based on disaster scenarios are described.
