A brief introduction to high-speed, high-productivity machining is followed by analysis of the applicability of high-productivity machining coursework to manufacturing-related engineering and engineering technology education. Typically, undergraduate students know and learn little about this emerging manufacturing technology. This paper presents the current educational environment and analyzes the need for coursework to promote learning in this and other advanced manufacturing technologies to help students of engineering and engineering technology succeed in today's competitive manufacturing environment.
