Tetrahedron beam computed tomography (TBCT) performs volumetric imaging using a stack of fan beams generated by a multiple pixel X-ray source. While the TBCT system was designed to overcome the scatter and detector issues faced by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), it still suffers the same large cone angle artifacts as CBCT due to the use of approximate reconstruction algorithms. It has been shown that iterative reconstruction algorithms are better able to model irregular system geometries and that algebraic iterative algorithms in particular have been able to reduce cone artifacts appearing at large cone angles. In this paper, the SART algorithm is modified for the use with the different TBCT geometries and is tested using both simulated projection data and data acquired using the TBCT benchtop system. The modified SART reconstruction algorithms were able to mitigate the effects of using data generated at large cone angles and were also able to reconstruct CT images without the introduction of artifacts due to either the longitudinal or transverse truncation in the data sets. Algebraic iterative reconstruction can be especially useful for dual-source dual-detector TBCT, wherein the cone angle is the largest in the center of the field of view.

This paper builds on Innocenti’s polynomial solution for the 5-SS platform that generates a one-degree of freedom movement through seven specified spatial positions of a rigid body. We show that his 60×60 resultant can be reduced to one that is 10×10. We then actuate the linkage using a prismatic joint on the sixth leg and determine the trajectory of the reference point through the specified positions. The singularity submanifold of this associated 6-SS platform provides information about the movement characteristics of the 5-SS linkage.

In order to find the principal axes of inertia and calculate their moment of inertia to any plane homogeneous rigid body for calculating easily the moment of inertia to any axis of this rigid body, the principal axes could be found and their moment of inertia could be calculated automatically by using the reading-image of MATLAB to read the image messages about the flat surface of the rigid body and by the procedures which ware made according to the logic relation about the principal axis and the moment of inertia of the rigid body. Applying this method in a homogeneous cube, a result was acquired, error of which is small compared with the theoretical value. So this method is reliable, convenient and practical

Wilms (1995) has considered the plane motion of three lineal rigid bodies subject to linear damping over their length. He shows that these plane single-degree-of-freedom systems are governed by precisely the same fundamental differential equation. It is not unusual that several dynamical systems may be formally characterized by the same differential equation, but the universal differential equation for these systems is unusual because it is exactly the same equation for the three very different systems. It is shown here that these problems belong to a more general class of problems for which the differential equation is exactly the same for every lineal rigid body regardless of its geometry.

We consider rotational motion of an arbitrarily composed and shaped, deformable weakly self-gravitating body being a member of a system of N arbitrarily composed and shaped, deformable weakly self-gravitating bodies in the post-Newtonian approximation of general relativity. Considering importance of the notion of angular velocity of the body (Earth, pulsar) for adequate modelling of modern astronomical observations, we are aimed at introducing a post-Newtonian-accurate definition of angular velocity. Not attempting to introduce a relativistic notion of rigid body (which is well known to be ill-defined even at the first post-Newtonian approximation) we consider bodies to be deformable and introduce the post-Newtonian generalizations of the Tisserand axes and the principal axes of inertia.

Computed tomography (CT) image reconstruction and restoration are very important in medical image processing, and are associated together to be an inverse problem. Image iterative reconstruction is a key tool to increase the applicability of CT imaging and reduce radiation dose. Nevertheless, traditional image iterative reconstruction methods are limited by the sampling theorem and also the blurring of projection data will propagate unhampered artifact in the reconstructed image. To overcome these problems, image restoration techniques should be developed to accurately correct a wide variety of image degrading effects in order to effectively improve image reconstruction. In this paper, a blind image restoration technique is embedded in the compressive sensing CT image reconstruction, which can result in a high-quality reconstruction image using fewer projection data. Because a small amount of data can be obtained by radiation in a shorter time, high-quality image reconstruction with less data is equivalent to reducing radiation dose. Technically, both the blurring process and the sparse representation of the sharp CT image are first modeled as a serial of parameters. The sharp CT image will be obtained from the estimated sparse representation. Then, the model parameters are estimated by a hierarchical Bayesian maximum posteriori formulation. Finally, the estimated model parameters are optimized to obtain the final image reconstruction. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with the simulation experiments in terms of the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), and structural similarity index (SSIM).
