There are limited published studies related to the mechanical properties of bamboo species in the Philippines. In this study, the shear strength properties of some economically viable bamboo species in the Philippines were properly characterized based on 220 shear test results. The rationales of selecting this mechanical property are the following: (1) Shear strength, parallel to the fiber, has the highest variability among the mechanical properties; and (2) Shear is one of the governing forces on joint connections, and such connections are the points of failure on bamboo structures when subjected to extreme loading conditions. ISO 22157-1 (2017) test protocol for shear was used for all tests. The results showed that Bambusa blumeana has the highest average shear strength, followed by Gigantochloa apus, Dendrocalamus asper, Bambusa philippinensis, and Bambusa vulgaris. However, comparative analysis, using One-way ANOVA, showed that shear strength values among these bamboo species have significant differences statistically. A linear regression model is also established to estimate the shear strength of bamboo from the physical properties. Characteristic shear strength is also determined using ISO 12122-1 (2014) for future design reference.

The aim of the present study was to analyse the personality traits and value preferences of students from integrated and non-integrated classes. Sixty-nine primary school sixth graders were surveyed (M = 12.45; SD = .58). The group of students attending integrated classes included 38 individuals. The remaining 31 students attended non-integrated classrooms. Personality traits were measured using the Picture-Based Personality Survey for Children (PBPS-C ) and value preferences were determined on the basis of the Picture-Based Value Survey for Children (PBVS-C). The results showed that youth from the integrated classes did not differ significantly from their peers from the non-integrated classes in terms of personality traits. In case of values, students from the non-integrated classes cherished values of Universalism more than their peers from the integrated classes. Correlation analyses showed that the patterns of relations between personality traits and preferred values were partially different for the two groups. Nevertheless, a similar pattern of relations was observed in both groups between Openness to Experience and values in the categories of Self-direction and Universalism.

The proposed article reviews and characterizes the different roles which are performed by the teacher as one of the participants in the pedagogical interaction in project-based learning (PBL ). A comparative analysis is made of the influence of the teacher on the ongoing processes in the pupil group, depending on his role in PBL as a trainer, facilitator or coach in the course of training. The study examines a few models of communication between the teacher and the pupil teams in primary school, who are trained through project activities, contributing to both the acquisition of knowledge and practical skills, as well as the formation of social skills and competences.

The article deals with the issue of studying the emotional sphere of athletes-swimmers of primary school age. The features of their emotional sphere caused by socialization of the individual and sports are revealed. The features of anxiety and aggressiveness in the conditions of training and interaction with peers are determined. Special attention is paid to the program of psychological support of sports activities of athletes-swimmers of primary school age. A comparative analysis of the indicators of aggressiveness and anxiety after the implementation of the program is presented. The necessity of carrying out this type of work with young athletes is justified.
