This study was conducted to investigate physicochemical properties, copper corrosion test and test the diesel engine performance of diethyl ether diesel blend fuel. With aid of distillation characteristic, the blends percentage were selected as DEE5%, DEE10, DEE15 and DEE20%. Stabinger Viscometer apparatus was used to determine the Kinematic viscosities, Digital Density Analyzer was used to determine the densities. ASTM D 4737 – 03 Test Method are used to determined calculated Cetane index. Copper strip corrosion device was used to determine corrosiveness of copper from diesel and DEE diesel blends. A single cylinder, four stroke diesel engines, mounted on a moving frame was used to conduct the engine test. From the study result we found that that blends physicochemical properties improved with diethyl ether ratio increased in the blends. While Cetane Index increased with diethyl ether ratio increased. At the higher load, the best result of Break thermal efficiency found at DEE10%, where at the low load, the best mechanical efficiency found at DEE5%, DEE15% and DEE20 and at the higher load, the best mechanical efficiency found at DEE20%, on other hand at the low load, the best specific fuel consumption found at DEE15%, While at the higher load the best specific fuel consumption found at DEE10%. Due to availability of diethyl ether in Sudan, diethyl ether can be used up to 10% in diesel blend with no further changed in diesel engine design, and this can be contributed to overcome the diesel fuel crisis in Sudan, but further information and studies are needed for diethyl ether transportation and blending facilities, beside study the effect the addition of diethyl ether on diesel price.

Accurate measurement and modeling of fuel consumption have great significance in the evaluation and optimization for environmental protection, energy saving and economy of highway project. Vehicle, test method and fuel consumption prediction method are improved for accurate calculation of current fuel consumption. Natural drivings fuel consumption are measured with actual transportation vehicles on the highway. Long route is divided into many units, whose fuel consumption are added to estimate the total fuel consumption. Comparison between traditional models calculating value and measured value on flat road shows that traditional models are not suitable for calculating current fuel consumption. So traditional models coefficients are updated and new model forms are established through a large number of measured data. The new models are more accurate than traditional models.

Based on the analysis and summarizing domestic and foreign automobile fuel consumption testing instruments, on the basis of common problems and characteristics of the development level and development trend, according to its adoption of advanced sensor technology, car league two model of the RFID system, car league two highway fuel consumption algorithm (FCIV), microcontroller technology and display technology, the development of intelligent car fuel consumption test instrument to test the fuel consumption, etc. Introduces the current development of fuel consumption detection system at home and abroad. Through to the traditional means of traffic information collection, radio frequency identification (RFID) system is real-time, effective, but there are also acquired data in space and the smell of the discrete case, car league two model of the RFID system, the collection of traffic information to classify the sections for the smallest discrete unit using different fuel consumption test method, developed suitable for different test conditions and test function for fuel testing instrument. Based on high speed road vehicle fuel consumption influence factors to complete various types of vehicle traffic condition modeling micro letter car networking development main problems are put forward. According to the specific situation to modify theoretical model, thus improve fuel consumption detection accuracy. Compare car fuel consumption directly the types and characteristics of the measuring method and indirect measuring method, analysis of displacement method, gravity method and carbon balance method, ultrasonic method and method of fuel injection quantity accumulation detection principle, calculation of mathematical model and its application scope and characteristics. Fuel consumption test system theory is feasible; the fuel consumption test is of great significance.
