Interdisciplinary working is often understood as involving individuals or teams from different disciplines to engage with common problems, but this has proved to be an enduring challenge. An alternative framing of interdisciplinary working is Hall's ‘culture of inquiry’, in which it is conceptualised as narrative creation in an environment of formative critique. This paper explores the relevance and applicability of this idea to educational research and development, specifically in the context of purportedly interdisciplinary TEL projects. It draws on the author's experience in projects in which multiple narratives — pedagogical, technological and social — have the potential to contribute to both to individual and collective understanding and the development of new practice.

Faculty development programs are critical to the implementation and support of curriculum innovation. In this case study, the authors present lessons learned from ten years of experience in faculty development programs created to support innovation in technology enhanced learning. Stages of curriculum innovation are matched to stages of faculty development, and important lessons for success as well as current challenges are delineated and discussed.

A visual instructional tool that is theory-driven and supported by evidence-based research is used to support student learning and information-processing. The graphic organizer has enhanced learning in Science Education as well as Special Education, emphasizing the construction of knowledge with meaningful sequential relationships rather than memorizing isolated fragments of information. Students construct a visual schema that represents a system of interrelated concepts and icons created by the learner. This article provides a description of a qualitative application of how students with disabilities are able to represent their ideas by assimilating subject matter and their personal perceptions of content by drawing pictures connected to concepts within the visual graphic. Positive results were documented in this study.

Abstrak: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran daring berbantuan laboratorium virtual terhadap minat belajar fisika peserta didik dan mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran daring berbantuan laboratorium virtual terhadap hasil belajar kognitif fisika peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen one group pretest posttest. Sampel penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas X MIPA 1 yang berjumlah 33 orang yang ditentukan dengan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes hasil belajar kognitif dan angket minat belajar peserta didik. Hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh pembelajaran daring berbantuan laboratorium virtual terhadap minat belajar peserta didik dengan nilai sig (2-tailed) lebih kecil dari 0,05 (0,0063 < 0,05) dan ada pengaruh pembelajaran daring berbantuan laboratorium virtual terhadap hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik dengan nilai sig (2-tailed)  lebih kecil dari 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05) Abstract: This article aims to determine the influence of online learning with virtual labs on the learning interest of students ' physics and to know the influence of online learning with virtual labs on cognitive learning outcomes of student physics. This type of research is a quasi experiment with the experimental design of one group Pretests posttest. This research sample is a student of class X MIPA 1 which amounted 33 people determined with simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study are cognitive learning results test and Angket learning interest learners. Data analysis results can be concluded that there is a virtual lab-assisted online learning influence to the learning interest of learners with a value of sig (2-tailed) smaller than 0.05 (0.0063 < 0.05) and there is a virtual lab-assisted online learning influence to the outcome of the students ' cognitive learning with a sig (2-tailed) value smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05).

Although thousands of mammalian long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported in the last decade, their functional annotation remains limited. A wet-lab approach to detect functions of a novel lncRNA usually includes its knockdown followed by RNA sequencing and identification of the deferentially expressed genes. However, identification of the molecular mechanism(s) used by the lncRNA to regulate its targets frequently becomes a challenge. Previously, we developed the ASSA algorithm that detects statistically significant inter-molecular RNA-RNA interactions. Here we designed a workflow that uses ASSA predictions to estimate the ability of an lncRNA to function via direct base pairing with the target transcripts (co- or post-transcriptionally). The workflow was applied to 300+ lncRNA knockdown experiments from the FANTOM6 pilot project producing statistically significant predictions for 71 unique lncRNAs (104 knockdowns). Surprisingly, the majority of these lncRNAs were likely to function co-transcriptionally, i.e., hybridize with the nascent transcripts of the target genes. Moreover, a number of the obtained predictions were supported by independent iMARGI experimental data on co-localization of lncRNA and chromatin. We detected an evolutionarily conserved lncRNA CHASERR (AC013394.2 or LINC01578) that could regulate target genes co-transcriptionally via interaction with a nascent transcript by directing CHD2 helicase. The obtained results suggested that this nuclear lncRNA may be able to activate expression of the target genes in trans by base-pairing with the nascent transcripts and directing the CHD2 helicase to the regulated promoters leading to open the chromatin and active transcription. Our study highlights the possible importance of base-pairing between nuclear lncRNAs and nascent transcripts for the regulation of gene expression.
