An aggressive logging becomes a chronic problem in Indonesia. There is an inappropriate paradigm in the understanding and treating of the environment, especially trees and forests. This article examines the discourse of nature conservation based on Balinese local wisdom as presented in visual cartoons of Bog-Bog magazine (No 10, Vol 10, 2012) which theme is tree. Information data taken from cartoon Bog-Bog magazine No. 10, analyzed by the theory of semiotics and supported by the theory of visual design elements. The pictures from the Bog-Bog cartoon show the artistic, critical and humorous efforts of the Bog-Bog cartoonists in constructing Balinese local discourse based on customs, belief, and Hindu religion in an important message of preserving the forest in particular and nature in general. Analysis shown that Bali has a number of local wisdom such as the sacred trust system of tree as one of the ecological messages for forest preservation. An example is the concept of palemahan in the Hindu philosophy of Tri Hita Karana which is important for the harmony of human relationship with nature as a source of prosperity. Bog-Bog cartoon successfully convey the nature conservation discourse based on Balinese local wisdom with the construction of humor, critical, and parody discourse.

The Internet of things is the basic paradigm with the cluster of techniques that ensure innovations in the service rendered in various applications. It aims to develop a seamless connection between the tangible objects around and the information network in turn to provide a well-structured servicing to its users. Though the IOT service seems to be promising, the risks still prevail in the form of privacy and the security in user acceptance in utilizing the internet of things services, and its application. This makes the trust management very important for the internet of things. So the paper puts forth the distributed block chain involved trust system to manage the conveyance infrastructures of the internet of things paradigm. The evaluation of the proposed model evinces the enhanced security provided for the nodes of the IOT as well as its information exchange.

The establishment of trust in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) will require the application of non-conventional measures of information security, such as reputation of the participants. The system proposed in this paper uses the concept of certified reputation, in which vehicles communicate providing digital certificates that include their own reputation level. The vehicles periodically come in contact with certification and traffic control authorities to update their reputation levels, which are determined by the validation of their behavior on the network. Decision-making mechanisms in the receiver vehicles are responsible for evaluating whether the messages are true or false, based on the reputation of the communication nodes. The quantitative analysis of simulated scenarios showed the combination of the central reputation scheme with an appropriate vehicular decision mechanism achieved a total of correct decisions superior than without reputation systems. Considering the constraints of a high mobile network, the proposed system is a feasible way to reduce the risk of anomalous or malicious behavior in a vehicular network.

E-mail services are the method of sending and receiving electronic messages over communication networks. Web services on the other hand provide a channel of accessing interlinked hypermeida via the World Wide Web. As these two methods of network communications turn into the most popular services over the Internet, applied cryptography and secure authentication protocols become indispensable in securing confidential data over public networks. In this chapter, we first review a number of cryptographic ciphers widely used in secure communication protocols. We then discuss and compare the popular trust system Web of Trust, the certificate standard X.509, and the standard for public key systems Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Two secure e-mail standards, OpenPGP and S/MIME, are examined and compared. The de facto standard cryptographic protocol for e-commerce, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) / Transport Layer Security (TLS), and XML Security Standards for secure web services are also discussed.

As the importance of Chinese financial schemes in maritime business increases, and many issues on the ownership of the assets under the current Law remain obscured for international investors, this work argues that a streamlining to international practice is required; therefore, the ownership of the trust property under the shipping fund in China should be transferred to the trustee from the client. The trustee shall possess, employ, benefit, and dispose the trust property in his/her own name, which links up with China’s current property legislation, ship registration, and ship arrest regulations. The trust property under the shipping fund in China is independent of the fixed property or other management property of the trustee, the beneficiary, and the custodian. This gives full play to functional advantages of the trust system of the shipping fund, contributes to the expansion of financing channels in the shipping industry in China, guarantees the specialization and flexibility of shipping investment activities and the diversity of the investment subject, promotes development of China’s policies about the shipping industry and financial innovation, and boosts the realization of “The Strategy of National Revitalization Based on Marine Industry Development” and “The Belt and Road Initiatives” and construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and International Finance Center.
