In this research, the vital factors responsible for the demise of many dotcoms are identified and investigated. A mediator model is presented to explore possible relationships among the exogenous and endogenous variables in accordance with business and technology strategies. Two major analyses are conducted to examine the primary causes for dotcom failure. The first analysis examines the relationships between exogenous and endogenous variables based on the quasi-empirical findings from 50 failed dotcoms. The second analysis conducts a non-parametric correlation analysis of the variables. The results indicate that exogenous variables, fund and competition, influence the endogenous variables, staff, front-end operation, back-end operation, and business strategy. The practical implication of this study is to provide current and future dotcoms with another angle of view for assessing and adjusting their strategic position by evaluating those critical determinants and their inter-relationships so that a robust business model can be implemented.

The “misunderstanding” in the process of literary accepting refers to the receiver in the reading text process with the creation main body, creation motive, the work implication, as well as between the works artistic value constitutes the situation which “the dialog” in the complex relations produces contradicts. But, in the concrete reading process, the “misunderstanding” may divide in “the error correction” and “instead harms” kind of situations. Although “the error correction” refers to reader's understanding in line with author's creation original meaning which produces contradicts, but the work itself actually has demonstrated reader’s understood connotation, thus causes this kind of the “misunderstanding” seems cuts with actual and persuasiveness. “Instead harms” refers to the reader unconscious determination to carry on the far-fetched cognition and the appraisal to the literary work, including to literary work non-artistic angle of view twisting. “The error correction” should advocate that “instead harms” should deny, this does not dispute. But, “the error correction” and “instead harms” between has certain fuzzy regions, between them the strict demarcation line, some literary work in such time, possibly has not had “the error correction” in such receiver, but in another time, possibly has the different understanding in other receivers, to “instead harms” direction transformation. The “misunderstanding” is the literature accepts the necessity, because just having the “misunderstanding”, the different sound, between the literature mutual exchanges and collides, the literature only then had prosperously, the vigorous development aspect.

The principal duties and position is not light, because the position and role of school principals will greatly affect (determine) the progress of the school. Therefore, a school principal should be able to perform activities related to managerial ability to effectively utilize personnel. The school principal is obliged to move the personnel to willingly and earnestly perform their duties through administrative include planning, directing, coordination and supervision. Seeing the principal’s duties and functions of such complexity, then the role of principals that can be categorized into different types of roles depending on the angle of view that ultimately can create a climate, a good school.

Prosopagnosia is a neurological syndrome in which patients cannot recognize faces. Kecently it has been shown that some prosopagnosics give evidence of "covert" recognition: they show greater autonomic responses to familiar faces than to unfamiliar ones, and respond differently to familiar faces in learning and interference tasks. Although some patients do not show covert recognition, this has usually been attributed to an "apperceptive" deficit that impairs perceptual analysis of the input. The implication is that prosopagnosia is a deficit in access to, or awareness of, memories of faces: the inducing brain injury does not destroy the memories themselves. We present a case study that challenges this view. LH suffers from prosopagnosia as the result of a closed head injury. He cannot recognize familiar faces or report that they are familiar, nor answer questions about the faces from memory, though he can (1) recognize common objects and subtly varying shapes, (2) match faces while ignoring irrelevant information such as emotional expression or angle of view, (3) recognize sex, age, and like-ability from faces, and (4) recognize people by a number of nonfacial channels. The only other categories of shapes that he has marked trouble recognizing are animals and emotional expressions, though even these impairments were not as severe as the one for faces. Three measures (sympathetic skin response, pupil dilation, and learning correct and incorrect names of faces) failed to show any signs of covert face recognition in LH, though the measures were sensitive enough to reflect autonomic reactions in LH to stimuli other than faces, and face familiarity in normal controls. Thus prosopagnosia cannot always be attributed to a mere absence of awareness (i.e., preserved information about faces whose output is disconnected from conscious cognitive processing), to an apperceptive deficit (i.e., preserved information about faces that cannot be accessed due to improperly analyzed perceptual input), or to an inability to recognize complex or subtly varying shapes (i.e., loss or degradation of shape memory in general). We conclude that it is possible for brain injury to eliminate the storage of information about familiar faces and certain related shapes.

This study proposes to apply the combination of two 90-degree prisms and a holographic optical element to an image-dividing element, divide an image into three through the virtual image projection system, and accurately project the images to 160 cm behind the windshield. In order to distinguish the left image, middle image, and right image at the horizontal direction, the 90-degree prism is first utilized for horizontally deflecting the light, a holographic optical element is then used for presenting the vertical deflection of the image, and finally, the images are horizontally arranged as a real image on the diffuser. An image-dividing element is eventually integrated to the virtual image projection system. Then, the divided images are made as a virtual image which is projected to 160 cm behind the windshield to combine with the street scene. The horizontal angle of view of an eyebox is increased from 2.51° to 7.22°, and the size of the eyebox is 31.68 cm × 12.48 cm, allowing a wide-view laser-based head-up display with the large-angle beam-splitting function being successfully designed. It would not affect the field of view on the road, and this system could reduce the space and be arranged easily in a vehicle. Therefore, this proposed system is suitable for the aftermarket.

Iridescence—change of colour with changes in the angle of view or of illumination—is widespread in the living world, but its functions remain poorly understood. The presence of iridescence has been suggested in flowers where diffraction gratings generate iridescent colours. Such colours have been suggested to serve plant–pollinator communication. Here we tested whether a higher iridescence relative to corolla pigmentation would facilitate discrimination, learning and retention of iridescent visual targets. We conditioned bumblebees ( Bombus terrestris ) to discriminate iridescent from non-iridescent artificial flowers and we varied iridescence detectability by varying target iridescent relative to pigment optical effect. We show that bees rewarded on targets with higher iridescent relative to pigment effect required fewer choices to complete learning, showed faster generalization to novel targets exhibiting the same iridescence-to-pigment level and had better long-term memory retention. Along with optical measurements, behavioural results thus demonstrate that bees can learn iridescence-related cues as bona fide signals for flower reward. They also suggest that floral advertising may be shaped by competition between iridescence and corolla pigmentation, a fact that has important evolutionary implications for pollinators. Optical measurements narrow down the type of cues that bees may have used for learning. Beyond pollinator–plant communication, our experiments help understanding how receivers influence the evolution of iridescence signals generated by gratings.

Conventionally, a bright, very wide-angle optical system is designed as a floating type optical system that moves two or more lens groups composed of multiple lens in order to focus accurately. These have been widely used as phase detection auto focus (AF) methods within conventional digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. However, a phase detection AF optical system cannot be used when recording motion pictures. In contrast, a compact system camera (CSC) performs AF by the contrast method, where a stepper motor is used as the driving source for moving the optical lens. Nonetheless, to ensure that the focusing lens is lighter, these stepper motors should not have high torque and AF must be possible by moving only one lens. Yet, when focusing is performed with only one lens, aberration change due to focusing lens movement is magnified. Therefore, a very wide-angle optical system comprised of a half-angle of view more than 40 degrees and F of 1/4 has not been developed. Here, a very wide-angle optical system was designed with high resolving power that enables high speed AF, even in contrast mode, by moving only one lens while minimizing aberration change.

Aiming at the application requirements of infrared detection, the influence of earth background interference on plume radiation detection is investigated and discussed in this article. The infrared image of the earth’s atmospheric background radiation is simulated by the spectral correlation based on the conversion model of the surface radiation with different bands. The infrared radiation image of the jet flame and the background is generated by overlapping the infrared radiation of the engine flame and the background radiation according to the detection angle of view. Through the image quality evaluation model, the detectability of the flame is analyzed. The simulating results show that the comprehensive statistical features such as image information entropy, variance and signal-to-clutter ratio can be used to evaluate the detectability of the engine flame.
