This article explores the modern information society as a stage in the development of civilization, is a historically established form of joint activities of people, based on ensuring the priority of information over other resources, as well as on the prevailing use of information and telecommunication technologies for solving the basic tasks of human life and the formation of social connections. Recently, it has become common to characterize modern society as information society. An information society is a society in which each of its members is provided with the opportunity provided by law to be a participant in information exchange through the creation of information institutions for the most effective and full-fledged development.

This chapter discusses the goals of the Murale project, an Information Society Technologies (IST) project, which is funded by the European Commission in order to advance the use of computer technology in the field of archaeology. The Murale project aims to offer solutions on the basis of photo-realistic modelling tools. The creation of the Murale project allowed archaeologists to solve old tasks with new means. This new technology has been applied to the Sagalassos site in the hopes of creating a convincing impression of how this Turkish province developed over the centuries. In this chapter, the focus is on the work carried out by three of the partners of the Murale: ETH Zurich, Eyetronics, and the University of Leuven. The results of their work predominantly pertain to 3D shape acquisition and image-based texture synthesis.

The present society is considered an information society. A society where the creation, distribution, use, integration, and manipulation of digital information have become the most significant activity in all aspects. Information is producing from every sector of any society, which has resulted in an information explosion. Modern technologies are also having a huge impact. So managing this voluminous information is really a tough job. Again WWW has opened the door to connect anyone or anything within a fraction of a second. This study discussed the Semantic Web and linked data technologies and their effect and application to libraries for the handling of various types of resources.

The article considers the necessity of active implementation of monitoring, as a managerial instrument, into the process of urban development. In recent years, several European projects have been launched aiming to research the new paradigm of virtual enterprise. The projects VIVE, BIDSAVER, and ALIVE are only some of which have run under the auspices of the European Commission Programme for Information Society Technologies (IST). This chapter presents the BIDSAVER project that ran between 1999 and 2002, and aimed at delivering technologies and methodologies that support the creation and operation of virtual enterprises.

The main objectives of the state policy in the field of information, which is the reason for the creation of appropriate conditions for achieving this goal were definited. In the information society, information is the basis for decision-making at all levels. However, in post-truth society, fake news and deepfakes are often created and distributed via artificial intelligence technologies. Confidence in information is gradually lost, and the creation of a way to accurately recognize its authenticity will become a scientific and technical discovery. The problem of identifying fake information also affects the identification of its primary source, which often uses fake accounts. Counties are concerned about the security of the information space. They are attempting to control the spread of fakes, deepfakes, and the creation of fake accounts in the Internet. Control can be global and nationally bureaucratic. Many countries, to various extents, are trying to control the Internet through national bureaucratic measures. However, everyone realizes that there are not enough global measures to control the Internet.

The article analyzes the state and directions of the organization of electronic catalysts in the system of libraries, and shows the scientific-theoretical basis and methodology for the creation of electronic catalogues. The article also focuses on improving the efficiency of library services, the directions and principles of its improvement, and the optimal use of modern catalogue was noted. The article comparatively analyzes the methods used in the world practice and shows the methodological basis for the application of the innovations. In addition, at the modern era it outlines the automation of libraries, the creation of electronic catalogues, and in general problems of cataloguing, the role of libraries in providing access to documentary and database users who have access to various libraries around the world and in the country. The author concludes that the work done on the organization of electronic catalogues in our country contributes to the effective organization of the inquiry-information the process in the libraries of the Republic, accelerates access to the most valuable documents and facilitates world integration.

Fundamental factor of the information society’s development is the quality of human capitaland the computerization of learning process. The author has emphasized the different meaningsof information society as well as and the objectives of its development in Poland. Then theauthor indicated the differentiation of European countries in terms of an access to the Internetand in numbers of the informatics schools graduates. The author points, out that not only theadvancement in the area of the school informatics endowment and access to Internet areimportant, but also the improvement in the ability to operate the electronic media in order toselect and to use the dispersed information. The development of various forms of lifelonglearning can be useful in the creation of information society.
