Interface design refers to the overall look and feel of an e-learning program (Hall, 1997). User interface design is the creation of a seamless integration of content and its organization, together with the navigational and interactive controls that learners use to work with the content (Jones & Farquhar, 1997). The design of an e-learning interface is critical because it determines how learners interact with the presented information (Brown, Milner & Ford, 2001). In an e-learning environment, all e-learning interfaces should be designed to accommodate the tasks of learners while they access information. Lohr (2000) states that learning interfaces are defined as those where communication cues take place between a learner and a learning system.

INTISARIPemanfataan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (ICT) terus digalakkan di SMA Negeri 2 Magelang, dengan tujuan agar dapat menunjang kegiatan belajar mengajar. Hal ini sesuai dengan visi dan misi yang dicanangkan sekolah. Dalam penelitian ini dikembangkan sebuah rancangan bangun sistem ­E-Learning yang diharapkan dapat mengefektifkan proses belajar mengajar. Pada proses pengembangan sistem, tahapan analisis yang dilakukan meliputi analisis sistem yang berjalan, analisis kelemahan sistem menggunakan metode SWOT serta analisis kebutuhan sistem. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan tahapan perancangan. Tahapan perancangan dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan berbasis proses. Alat bantu pemodelan yang digunakan adalah DFD dan ERD. Rancangan yang telah dbuat selanjutnya diimplementasikan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dengan database MySQL.Sistem yang dibangun dalam penelitian ini dapat diaplikasikan secara online maupun secara offline. Dengan user interface yang mudah dipahami dan digunakan, diharapkan sistem yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan secara optimal, sehingga dapat membantu siswa dalam memahami mata pelajaran yang diberikan oleh para guru.Kata Kunci – E-Learning, PHP, MySQL, SWOT. ABSTRACTUtilization of information and communication technology (ICT) continues to be encouraged in SMA Negeri 2 Magelang, with the aim to support teaching and learning activities. This is in accordance with the vision and mission that proclaimed the school. In this study has been developed a design of the E-Learning system that is expected to streamline the teaching and learning process.In the process of system development, the stages of analysis includes the analysis of running systems, the analysis of system weaknesses using the SWOT method and system requirements analysis. Then proceed with the design stage. Stages of design was done using a process-based approach. The modeling tools used are DFD and ERD. The design that has been made then be implemented using PHP programming language with MySQL database.The system built in this research can be applied online or offline. With a user interface that is easy to understand and use, it is expected that the resulting system can be used optimally, so it can help students in understanding the subjects provided by the teachers.Keywords – E-Learning, PHP, MySQL, SWOT.

The article analyzes special features and principles of constructing the user interface and substantiates the authors methodical approach to the development of the intellectual user interface of educational publications in the e-learning system. Besides, the “user interface” concept is analyzed and types of user interfaces are considered. For representatives of each representative system, the article gives a list of typical ways of perceiving environmental information that should be considered in developing the user interface of educational publications. The main features of procedurally-oriented and object-oriented types of user interface are considered and their main parameters are presented. The implementation of an innovative component in the development interface of educational publications in the e-learning system is proposed to be implemented by adding the properties of adaptability to the user interface. Provisions are determined that define the user interface concept, on the basis of which the principles of constructing adaptive interfaces are formed. The basic principles of visual design of mental maps of electronic educational publications for the e-learning system are offered. The main features provided by the mental map are presented in the form of a visual diagram. The didactic interface of the developed e-learning edition is considered and the scheme of the user and publication interaction is given. The focus group method evaluates the user interface quality of the created e-learning publication.

The Internet and the World Wide Web in particular provide a unique platform to connect learners with educational resources. Educational material in hypermedia formed in a Web-based educational system makes learning a task-driven process, motivating learners to explore alternative navigational paths through the domain knowledge and from different resources around the globe. Many researchers have focused on developing e-learning systems with personalized learning mechanisms to assist on-line Web-based learning and to adaptively provide learning paths. Although most personalized systems consider learner preferences, interests and browsing behaviors when providing personalized curriculum sequencing services, these systems usually neglect to consider whether learner ability and the difficulty level of the recommended curriculums are matched to each other. Therefore, the authors proposed approach is based on an integer program (IP) to optimize user curriculum accompanying with fuzzy logic approach which analyze the effective criteria by linguistic variables in a knowledge based system. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is shown by numerical illustrations which are inferenced from the designed user interface.
