This study aims to determine the effect of changes in generator load on efficiency performance in steam power plants and to determine the amount of input power in the boiler. Data collection was carried out at PT. Bosowa Energi PLTU Jeneponto. The data are the power output, fuel consumption, and the calorific value of the fuel. Then perform data analysis by calculating input power and efficiency. From the result of the study, the highest efficiency is on May 20, 2018 at 18.00 with a load of 90.00 MW, namely 55.68% and the lowest efficiency is on May 12, 2018 at 03.00 with a load of 64.98 MW, namely 22.69%. The highest boiler input power based on the analysis results was on May 3, 2018 at 20.00, namely 356.61 MW, and the lowest boiler input power based on the analysis was on May 15, 2018 at 07.00, namely 128.14 MW.

A negative capacitance shunt is a basic, analog, active circuit electrically connected to a piezoelectric transducer to control vibrations of flexural bodies. The electrical impedance of the negative capacitance shunt modifies the effective modulus of the piezoelectric element to reduce the stiffness and increase the damping which causes a decrease in amplitude of the vibrating structure to which the elements are bonded. The negative capacitance circuit is built around a single operational amplifier using passive circuit elements. To gain insight into the electromechanical coupling, the power consumption of the op-amp and the power dissipated in the resistive element are measured. The power output of the op-amp increases for increasing control gain of the negative capacitance. The power characteristics of the shunt are compared to the reactive input power analysis developed in earlier work.

Theoretical Analyses

Methods for analyzing the response characteristics of a pulse-width-modulated electro-hydraulic servomechanism are presented. Except for the modulator, the hydraulic control system is of conventional configuration. The modulator transfer characteristic is derived from a double Fourier series analysis of the pulse-width-modulated signal and this indicates the effect of the modulation parameters on the system performance. The valve flow which controls the mechanical load motion has been shown to be the dominant nonlinearity in a valve-controlled hydraulic system, and the system becomes more complicated due to the valve spool dither which is a consequence of the pulse-width-modulated signal. A dual-input describing function is developed for the equivalent valve flow gain in the determination of the system closed-loop frequency response. A numerical simulation is used to obtain the closed-loop transient response. Experimental verification of the theoretical analyses is carried out on a practical system. Good agreement is obtained between the predicted and the experimental responses.

<span>This paper presents the performance enhancement of capacitor run induction motor by pulse width modulated AC chopper.The phase angle control faces severe shortfall in the performance improvement for larger triggering angles. In this paper the comparison of phase angle control and sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique is encountered for effective speed control of single phase capacitor run induction motor. The necessary parameters are taken into considerations are higher efficiency, lesser total harmonic distortion and high input power factor. The results are compared by using the simulations using matlab Simulink environment. The validation of result in hardware is implemented using Field programmable gate array for sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique.</span>

Agricultural waste such as corn cobs and coconut shell can be used as alternative energy. Biomass as an alternative energy can be used as a fuel in the furnace. Corncob has low calorific value and density, so it is necessary to examine the combination’s effect of corn cobs and coconut shell toward the performances of biomass furnace.The gasification furnace was the development of a furnace design on previous research. Diameter of combustion chamber is 25 cm, diameter of free air duct and secondary air duct is 2 cm, and primary air duct is 1 cm. Combined corncob and coconut shell in sequence are 100%: 0%, 80%: 20%, 60%: 40%, 40%: 60%, 20%: 80%, 0%: 100%. Investigated parameters showing the furnace performance were boiling time, FCR, power input, power output, power loss and efficiency are boiling time, FCR, operating time, power input, power output, power loss and efficiency. Test of operating time were conducted by burning fuel until burned out. Then boiling time test were conducted by heated 1 liters water from ambient temperature to boiling (between 95oC - 97oC) on a 24 cm diameter pan.The results showed that the largest operating time (1317.33 Seconds), smallest FCR (2.249 Kg/hour), smallest power loss (19.532 kW), and the highest efficiency (8.19%) obtained at 0% : 100% combination. The fastest boiling time (157 Seconds) and the largest power output (1.828 kW) was obtained at 40%: 60% combination. While the largest power input (29.286 kW) was obtained at 60%: 40%.

This paper presented a seven level Photovoltaic (PV) solar cell system & Fuel cell designed in support of grid connected network by employing Pulse Width Modulation control scheme. The input power source comprises of PV source & Fuel cell. Modified MPPT algorithm (P&O) is use just before take out the maximum control from Photo voltaic system. The structure of the circuit is multi modular towards convert dc input voltages to dc output voltages among low rate devices at low duty cycle. A Proportional Integrate controller is to be implementing for multilevel inverter operating & closed loop analysis is done. One reference signal is to be impossible to tell apart to each other by means of an balance equivalent towards the triangular signal are used to make PWM signals intended for the switch. In the Proposed system will be verified during MATLAB/Simulink. The tentative result is compared among the predictable distinct phase seven level grids connected with Pulse Width Modulation generator.

This<strong> </strong>paper presents simplified control strategy of Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation method  including over modulation region  with linear transfer characteristic for cascaded H-bridge inverters. Because of large number of switching states of the cascaded H- Bridge inverter, the over modulation operation is very complex. And also requires incorporation of  both under modulation and over modulation algorithms. The proposed control method is effective in terms of selecting the optimal switching states with reduced computational complexity using simplified linear calculations which makes it easier for digital implementation. The performance of the proposed method  is simulated and tested experimentally through Spartan 3A FPGA processor for five level Cascaded H-bridge Inverter. The simulation results and harmonic analysis of voltage and current at various modulation indexes as are presented which are in well agreement.

Savonius wind turbine is one of the wind turbines that is more widely used for low energy needs, with more energy needs, this turbine type is very feasible to be developed. This research aims to improve the performance of Savonius wind turbines with variations in turbine blade curvature and variations in wind speed. The research method is a laboratory experiment on the fan test, the blade curvature test variation is 1R; 1.5R and 2R, another variation is the wind speed which are 4.0; 5.5; 7.0 and 8.5 m/s. The experiement results shows that the greater the wind speed, the input power, air mass flow velocity, power output, and efficiency will be even greater; the greater the load force on the turbine shaft, the torque on the turbine shaft will also be greater; the relationship of force loads to power output and turbine efficiency is to construct a parabolic curve; for the same wind speed, the 2R turbine has the lowest rotation, power output and efficiency compared to the 1R and 1.5R turbines; at the same wind speed the 1R turbine produces a higher rotation but requires lower torque than the 1.5R turbine; at low wind speeds (4 m / s) the 1.5R turbine has better efficiency than the 1R turbine, whereas at the high wind speed (8.5 m/s) the 1R turbine has a better efficiency than the 1.5R turbine; The maximum efficiency is obtained at 89.56% in the 1R curvature turbine with a wind speed of 8.5 m / s.
