The cumulative installed solar power generation has been rising exponentially over the past decade. This has lead to a concomitant rise in production capabilities, leading eventually to excess production capabilities and rapid price declines per unit. In order to compete with the standard electricity generation the cost of solar panel production and installation needs to decrease even further. At the same time the solar panel and cell makers need to be able to keep a healthy margin. A crucial element in this exercise is a close control on the Cost of Ownership (CoO) of a solar cell / panel fabrication site.

UML (Unfiled Modeling Language), known as the standard method for object-oriented (analysis and design) modeling, includes other languages which enables it to implement a prototype of the structure and behaviors of the product. This paper attempts to explore the observations about UML role on the cost of software maintenance, and hence on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a software product. It is therefore important to investigate the benefits obtained through modeling..

The number of alternatively powered vehicles in Poland and EU is growing steadily. Different type of vehicle drive trains determine variations in their performances from economical and environmental technological aspects. The aim of this paper was to investigate the cost efficiency and environmental aspects of midsize passenger cars equipped with different drive train technologies: conventional, hybrid, electric and LPG fueled engine. To this purpose, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) method was used. Calculations were carried out by AFLEET Tool. The results show that the LPG fueled car has the lowest TCO, while the cars equipped with electric drivetrain indicate the highest TCO. However the electric car recorded the lowest cost of air pollutant emissions and externalities costs.

The new series of turbofan engines use advanced technology features which enhance their attractiveness through reductions in the cost of ownership, noise, and pollution. Improvements in aerodynamics, mechanics, electronics, and materials technology reduce the cost of ownership via such factors as cost, reliability, durability, and operability. Primarily, advanced technology addresses fuel consumption, a parameter with a very large effect on direct operating cost. In addition, these advances do not trade convenience of operation for environmental acceptability. The advanced technology concepts used in the new commercial aircraft turbine engines offer both economic and environmental benefits.

AbstractThe development of a direct polish process for STI CMP on 200mm wafers using highselectivity slurry (HSS) has been achieved for production of 0.13μm technology microelectronic devices. The new process has improved on-wafer performance compared to standard STI CMP processes. The step height range across the wafer was decreased by 84%, planarity Cpk values (silicon nitride thickness and step-height uniformity) were increased by >25%, leakage current statistics were superior, and the cost of ownership was lowered by 78%. Cross-sectional SEMs both after direct polish CMP and after removal of the silicon nitride show improved planarity.

Slurry Pumps are used throughout the world for the Transportation of Solids in Coal, Copper Iron-Ore, Phosphate and other Mines. They are also used in Dredges cleaning Waterways in Sand and Gravel, and in Phosphoric Acid and Alumina Plants. About $500 million worth of slurry pumps and replacement parts are estimated to be produced every year. Slurry pumps are similar to water pumps so a lot of the available water pump technology can still be used. When it comes to determining pipeline velocities and heads, and the effect of slurries on performance, however, different technologies are found to be necessary. In designing for, and predicting pump wear performance, for example, special numerical modeling tools are found to be necessary. Pump system evaluations require a completely different approach. Cost of ownership calculations for slurry pumps must for example, consider wear parts life as they can be 50% of the total. When the whole system is considered, it needs to be in terms of the cost of transporting a number of tons of dry solids a given distance. Not water transported or pump efficiency. The writers in this presentation provides an outline of the different technologies involved in the design and application of centrifugal slurry pumps, how these are applied, and the insight they provide.

The successful Naval use of the TF50 and TF40 variants as high horsepower power plants has demonstrated a high degree of utility. Engineering analysis has shown that aspects of their design could be improved to increase reliability and increase platform availability while reducing the cost of ownership. As each year passes, electronic systems that can be housed in the current form factor improve in both reliability and capability. With that in mind, TES have developed a field replaceable, foot print and pin compatible upgrade to the existing FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronic Control). The upgraded unit has all of the capabilities of the old unit with many enhancements. The enhancements include: full rate diagnostics with user controlled viewers, modular design, removal of maintenance prone components, improved statistical analysis, and the ability to extend data collection. The result of these enhancements will not only improve FADEC reliability but will also allow improved engine prognostics and health monitoring.
