Abstract Borotellurite glasses with a composition [(60-X)TeO2-(20+X)B2O3-10Li2O-10Bi2O3] where x= 5-20 in steps of 5 mol% have been synthesized. Glass density, molar volume, oxygen packing density, and many other physical parameters were measured. UV-spectra in the wave length range (200-800) nm have been measured for the whole glass series. The optical energy band gap Eopt , refractive index, and optical basicity were measured. The mass absorption coefficients (μm) are determined experimentally by the HPGe detector and compared with the theoretical values obtained by XCOM program and MCNP5 simulation code within (0.121–1.408) MeV photon energy range. Half value layer (HVL), effective atomic number and electron density (Zeff and Neff), and macroscopic removal cross-section (∑R) were evaluated. The sample [55TeO2 – 25B2O3 – 10Bi2O3 – 10Li2O] possess the highest values of (μm = 1.192 ± 0.033 cm2/g, Zeff = 56.12 e/atom and ∑ R = 0.101499 cm-1) at energy 121 keV also lower values of (HVL = 0.121 cm, TVL = 0.1 cm and MFP = 0.174 cm) at photon energy 121 keV, therefore this sample considered the best gamma ray shielding material among the prepared glasses.

Abstract Gamma ray energies in 233U following the decay of 233Pa were measured with the Risö bent crystal spectrometer. These gamma lines were detected during the study of the 232Th(n,y)233Th reaction. Experimental details will be given elsewhere1. The energies were calibrated with the X-ray lines2 and the annihilation line3. The energies of seven transitions between 270 and 420 keV were determined with an accuracy which is up to a factor of 10 better than previous measurements by Albridge, Hollander, Gallagher, and Hamilton4. The transition energies are shown in the level scheme 4, 5 (Fig. 1 ) . A least squares program was used to fit the level energies to the seven transition energies obtained in this experiment and to four transition energies (below 103 keV) measured precisely by Albridge et al. 4. Level energies could be calculated with an accuracy of about 20 eV (Fig. 1).

New measurements of the absorption of filtered gamma-rays from radium (B + C) in aluminium, carbon and lead have been made. A small condenser type of ionization chamber has been used, which overcomes many of the difficulties usually inherent in this kind of measurement. Detailed consideration has been given to the corrections which must be applied to ionization measurements before absorption coefficients can be calculated. From the most recent theories of absolution by scattering, photoelectric effect, and electron pair formation, total absorption coefficients for lead over the wave-length range concerned have been calculated. The problem of the effective wave-length of a filtered heterogeneous gamma-ray beam is discussed in some detail, and a proposed method of estimation put forward. Comparison of the calculations of µ / ρ with the experimental figures indicates that the photoelectric absorption rises more rapidly with increasing wave-length than is predicted by theory.

A área do projeto está localizada na parte central do Brasil, na região nordeste do Estado de Goiás. As rochas fosfáticas ocorrem no Grupo Bambuí, na parte leste da Faixa de Dobramentos Brasília (FDB), na borda oeste do Cráton do São Francisco. As rochas mineralizadas na área de estudo estão associadas a calcários com apatita. Buscando maior eficiência e rapidez na descoberta de novos alvos prospectivos de rochas sedimentares fosfáticas, foi realizado o processamento dos dados aerogeofísicos juntamente com a correlação estatística dos dados geoquímicos. A integração destes dados proporcionou alvos potenciais que serão investigados com mapeamento geológico e geofísica terrestre (gamaespectrometria) para produzir parâmetros de calibração e comparação com as informações de geofísica aérea. A integração de informações geológicas e mapas de estimativa de eU e P mostraram que rochas ígneas e crostas lateríticas apresentam os teores mais altos de eU e eTh, conforme esperado. Entretando foram identificadas anomalias com pequeno comprimento de onda nos sedimentos das formações Serra de Santa Helena e Sete Lagoasdo Grupo Bambuí, onde são conhecidas ocorrências de corpos fosfáticos na área. O próximo passo deste trabalho será a investigação em campo destas anomalias encontradas, por meio de perfis geológicos e gamaespectrometria terrestre. ABSTRACT. The project area is located in the central part of Brazil, on the northeast region of Goiás State. The phosphatic rocks occur in the Bambuí Group, on the eastern portion of the Faixa de Dobramentos Brasília – Brasília Fold Strip (FDB), on the western border of the São Francisco Craton. In the area under investigation, themineralized rocks are associated with limestone and apatite. In order to discover new prospective targets of phosphatic sedimentary bodies, a faster and more objective airborne geophysics data processing method was carried out together with statistical correlation of geochemical data. The integration of these data identified potential mineralized targets to be checked with geologic mapping and ground geophysics (gamma-ray spectrometry) to produce a parameter of calibration and comparison with the airborne geophysical information. Integration of geologic information and estimate maps of eU and P shows that igneous rocks and lateritic crusts present the high estgrades of uranium and thorium elements, as expected. However, short wave length anomalies were identified in sediments of the Serra de Santa Helena and Sete Lagoas formations (Bambuí Group), where known phosphatic bodies occur in the studied area. The next step of this work will be field work to check these anomalies, with geological mapping and ground gamma-ray profiles.Keywords: applied geophysics, multiple regressions, phosphorites, uranium, Bambuí Group.
