AbstractThe elementary stimulus features encoded by the olfactory system remain poorly understood. We examined the relationship between 1,666 physical-chemical descriptors of odors and the activity of olfactory bulb inputs as well as outputs in awake mice. Glomerular and M/T cell responses were sparse and locally heterogeneous, with only a coarse dependence of glomerular positions on physical-chemical properties. Odor features represented by ensembles of M/T cells were overlapping, but distinct from those represented in glomeruli, consistent with extensive interplay between feedforward and feedback inputs to the bulb. This reformatting was well-described as a rotation in odor space. The descriptors accounted for a small fraction in response variance, and the similarity of odors in physical-chemical space was a poor predictor of similarity in neuronal representations. Our results suggest that commonly used physical-chemical properties are not systematically represented in bulbar activity and encourage further search for better descriptors of odor space.

Quantum chemical descriptors and empirical parameters are two different types of chemical parameters that play the fundamental roles in chemical reactivity and model development. However, previous studies have lacked detail regarding the relationship between quantum chemical descriptors and empirical constants. We selected polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) as an object to investigate the intrinsic correlation between 16 quantum chemical descriptors and Hammett constants. The results exhibited extremely high linearity for ∑ σ o ,   m ,   p + with Qxx/yy/zz, α and EHOMO based on the meta-position grouping. Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) congeners, as two independent compounds, validated the reliability of the relationship. The meta-substituent grouping method between ∑ σ o ,   m ,   p + and α was successfully used to predict the rate constant (k) for •OH oxidation of PCBs, as well as the octanol/water partition coefficient (logKOW) and aqueous solubility (−logSW) of PCDDs, and exhibited excellent agreement with experimental measurements. Revealing the intrinsic correlation underlying the empirical constant and quantum chemical descriptors can develop simpler and higher efficient model application in predicting the environmental behavior and chemical properties of compounds.

There are numeric numbers that define chemical descriptors that represent the entire structure of a graph, which contain a basic chemical structure. Of these, the main factors of topological indices are such that they are related to different physical chemical properties of primary chemical compounds. The biological activity of chemical compounds can be constructed by the help of topological indices. In theoretical chemistry, numerous chemical indices have been invented, such as the Zagreb index, the Randić index, the Wiener index, and many more. Hex-derived networks have an assortment of valuable applications in drug store, hardware, and systems administration. In this analysis, we compute the Forgotten index and Balaban index, and reclassified the Zagreb indices, A B C 4 index, and G A 5 index for the third type of hex-derived networks theoretically.

AbstractThe article presents data on the elemental and functional composition of humic acids, their molecular weight characteristics, physical, chemical and acid-base properties. The sorption properties of humic acids towards Cd2+ and Pb2+ are studied. The relationship between the polyelectrolyte nature of humic acids and their sorption capacity is revealed.
