This study was conducted to determine the susceptibility and resistance of some house fly strains of Musca domestica L. to the insect growth regulator insecticides triflumuron and pyriproxyfen in some locations in Riyadh city. Field-collected strains of M. domestica L. from five sites in Riyadh city that represented five slaughterhouse sites where flies spread significantly were tested against triflumuron and pyriproxyfen. Triflumuron LC50 values for the five collected strains ranged from 2.6 to 5.5 ppm, and the resistance factors (RFs) ranged from 13-fold to 27-fold that of the susceptible laboratory strain. Pyriproxyfen LC50 values for the field strains ranged from 0.9 to 1.8 ppm with RFs of 3-fold to 5-fold. These results indicate that pyriproxyfen is an effective insecticide to control house flies and should be used in rotation with other insecticides in the control programs applied by Riyadh municipality.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer la composición de la entomofauna de interés forense, determinar la riqueza y abundancia relativa según las etapas de descomposición y describir la sucesión de la entomofauna de interés forense acorde a las etapas de descomposición de Sus scrofa domesticus expuestos al sol y sombra. El trabajo se realizó de febrero a marzo del 2017. Se identificaron 5 etapas de descomposición: fresco, hinchado, colicuativo, avanzado y esqueletización. Registrándose un total de 5064 insectos, distribuidos en 2 Órdenes (Diptera y Coleoptera), 14 Familias, 18 especies y 5 morfotipos. Diptera fue el más abundante en ambas condiciones con 95,52 % (sombra) y 88,49% (sol). Se identificaron las siguientes especies: Chrysomya albiceps, Chrysomya megacephala, Lucilia sericata, Cochliomyia macellaria, Hemilucilia sp. (Diptera: Calliphoridae), Fannia canicularis, Fannia scalaris (Diptera: Fanniidae), Musca domestica, Morfotipo I (Diptera: Muscidae), Megaselia scalaris, Morfotipo I (Diptera: Phoridae), Sarcophaga sp., Morfotipo I (Diptera: Sarcophagidae), Dermestes maculatus (Coleoptera: Dermestidae), Euspilotus sp., e Hister sp., (Coleoptera: Histeridae), Canthon subhyalinus, Eurysternus sp., Oxelytrum cayennensis (Coleoptera: Silphidae), Polynonchus sp. (Coleoptera: Trogidae). La entomofauna de interés forense registradas en este estudio pueden ser empleadas para la estimación del intervalo post mortem.

Oviposition by four species of muscid flies on poultry manure having six levels of moisture in the range of 40–90% was compared using caged populations of adults. Musca domestica L., Muscina stabulans (Fallén), Fannia femoralis (Stein) and Ophyra aenescens (Wiedemann) deposited more than 50% of their eggs in manure having 70% moisture. Eggs from those fly species and two others, Fannia canicularis (L.) and a stratiomyid, Hermetia illucens (L.), were added to poultry manure having eight levels of moisture in the range of 20–90%, and the development and size of emerging adults determined. None of the species developed in manure with 80 and 90% moisture. Development was mostly in the manure with 40–70% moisture, although some development in drier manure occurred with F. canicularis and H. illucens. For some species there were differences in the survival of fly immatures, development time, and size of the adult flies reared in manure of different moisture levels.

Nos sistemas modernos de produção de ovos, as aves poedeiras são alojadas em altas densidades, acumulando esterco sob as gaiolas. Esse substrato é excelente para o desenvolvimento de moscas sinantrópicas. Sendo assim, se torna essencial a realização de levantamentos de moscas nesses locais, a fim de se planejar uma melhor estratégia de controle. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a entomofauna e a sazonalidade das espécies de dípteros da granja Crisdan, em São João da Boa Vista, São Paulo, Brasil. No período de janeiro de 2001 a dezembro de 2002 foram capturados 1.012.595 exemplares utilizando-se armadilha "jug-trap". As espécies identificadas foram: Drosophila repleta (Wollaston, 1858), Musca domestica (Linnaeus, 1758), Ophyra spp., Hermetria illucens (Linnaeus, 1758), Fannia canicularis (Linnaeus, 1761), Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius, 1794) e Sepsidae. Com maior freqüência D. repleta e M. domestica representaram 99,47% dos dípteros capturados. A elevação dos índices pluviométricos em alguns meses dos anos influenciaram a amostragem de dípteros (P<0,05). D. repleta representou cerca de 91% de toda população. Entretanto, este díptero provavelmente não estava se desenvolvendo no local, já que estágios imaturos não foram capturados.
