Abstract We propose that a certain 4d$$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 SU(2) × SU(2) gauge theory flows in the IR to an $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 3 SCFT plus a single free chiral field. The specific $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 3 SCFT has rank 1 and a dimension three Coulomb branch operator. The flow is generically expected to land at the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 3 SCFT deformed by the marginal deformation associated with said Coulomb branch operator. We also present a discussion about the properties expected of various RG invariant quantities from $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 3 superconformal symmetry, and use these to test our proposal. Finally, we discuss a generalization to another $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 model that we propose is related to a certain rank 3 $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 3 SCFT through the turning of certain marginal deformations.

Abstract The classical motion of a Nambu-Goto string in AdS3 spacetime is governed by the generalized sinh-Gordon equation. It can locally be reduced to the sinh-Gordon (shG), cosh-Gordon (chG), or Liouville equation, depending on the value of the scalar curvature of the induced metric. In this paper, I examine solutions that contain both shG-type and chG-type regions. The boundary between these regions moves with the speed of light. I show that near such boundaries (generalized) solitons can be classically pair-produced. The solitons move subluminally (superluminally) in the shG (chG) region on the worldsheet, and they correspond to cusps on the string. A direct energy cascade is observed at the moment of pair-creation.For the calculations, I use an exact discretization of the equation of motion. The solutions are segmented strings. In this discrete system, pair-production leads to a complete evaporation of the shG region. The final state is a gas of cusps in a chG environment.

Environmental crosswind can greatly affect the development of aircraft wake vortex pair. Previous numerical simulations and experiments have shown that the nonlinear vertical shear of the crosswind velocity can affect the dissipation rate of the aircraft wake vortex, causing each vortex of the vortex pair descent with different velocity magnitude, which will lead to the asymmetrical settlement and tilt of the wake vortex pair. Through numerical simulations, this article finds that uniform crosswind convection and linear vertical shear crosswind convection can also have an effect on the strength of the vortex. This effect is inversely proportional to the cube of the vortex spacing, so it is more intense on small separation vortex pair. In addition, the superposition of crosswind and vortex-induced velocities will lead to the asymmetrical pressure distribution around the vortex pair, which will also cause the tilt of the vortex pair. Furthermore, a new analysis method for wake vortex is proposed, which can be used to predict the vortex trajectory.

We consider QED with strong external backgrounds that are concentrated in restricted space areas. The latter backgrounds represent a kind of spatial x-electric potential steps for charged particles. They can create particles from the vacuum, the Klein paradox being closely related to this process. We describe a canonical quantization of the Dirac field with x-electric potential step in terms of adequate in- and out-creation and annihilation operators that allow one to have consistent particle interpretation of the physical system under consideration and develop a nonperturbative (in the external field) technics to calculate scattering, reflection, and electron-positron pair creation. We resume the physical impact of this development.
