This paper deals with the relation between statistical analysis as applied in economic inquiry and history as written or interpreted by economic historians. Although both these branches of economic study derive from the same body of raw materials of inquiry—the recordable past and present of economic society—each has developed in comparative isolation from the other. Statistical economists have failed to utilize adequately the contributions that economic historians have made to our knowledge of the past; and historians have rarely employed either the analytical tools or the basic theoretical hypotheses of statistical research. It is the thesis of this essay that such failure to effect a close interrelation between historical approach and statistical analysis needs to be corrected in the light of the final goal of economic study.

Although Virtual Reality technology was first developed almost sixty years ago, there has been little survey work giving an overview on how research in VR, AR and MR evolved in Brazil along with their future trends. We provide such analysis by reviewing the development made since the first WRV event, back in 1997, until SVR 2020. The first 22 event editions may help understand how the area was explored and provide a roadmap for future research. The 609 full papers analyzed were compiled into an open catalog, available on the internet. It features important filter capabilities, enabling the quick selection of papers based on citation number, conference topic, area of application, user experiments, statistical analysis and so on. We hope this tool to be of great value to the field, and also for helping researchers decide which topics should be explored when they are beginning their own studies in the area. In this analysis, we also refer to the most frequent authors in the area and how they contributed to the field based on their expertise and research group.

AbstractThe article presents research results in a scope of evaluation importance of safety in the workplace in the production processes of enterprise from metal products industry. Toyota’s management principles by Jeffrey Liker were pointed out, which refers to elements of Toyota’s house roof. An innovative BOST questionnaire survey was characterized as a tool for transformation of Toyota’s management principles into questions. Research group which participated in BOST study from the metal product industry was characterized. Research results were subjected to statistical analysis with a use of basic statistical parameters. Research results showed that safety in the workplace is important factor in the company.

Over the last few years, the research group MODES has carried out a research line (in collaboration with researchers from the Sustainable Agriculture Institute of the CSIC in Córdoba) on statistical modeling in weed science. One of the aspects dealt with in this line is that of the estimation of the so-called emergence curves from data obtained from field studies. In this context, new indices have been developed for hydrothermal times, new nonparametric methods have been proposed, which have been compared with other existing parametric methods and applied to relevant pests. In this context, the objective pursued was the development of an R package that can be useful for the statistical analysis of weed science data and, in particular, for the estimation of emergence curves. Currently, the package is available in the CRAN and it is intended to become a standard of use among the research community in weed science.
