Abstract A description is provided for Phaeoisariopsis melanochaeta. Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Species of Celastrus including C. paniculata, C senegalensis, and Maytenus heterophylla. DISEASE: Leaf spot. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Africa (South Africa, Zimbabwe), Asia (India (Madhya Padesh)). TRANSMISSION: Presumably by air borne conidia. Survival mechanisms unknown.
