The power sources used in cutting arc torches are usually poorly stabilized and have a large ripple factor. The strong oscillatory components in the voltage and arc current produce in turn, large fluctuations in the plasma quantities. Experimental observations on the dynamics of the non-equilibrium plasma inside the nozzle of a 30 A oxygen cutting torch with a 7 % ripple level of its power source are reported in this work.

AbstractRecent results contributing to our understanding of mechanisms of defect formation and excitation of Er luminescence in Si:Er system are presented. An essential role of non-equilibrium intrinsic point defects in Er-related defects formation for both implanted and in-diffused Si:Er structures is demonstrated. The data of electroluminescence (EL) measurements evidence that the Er3+ excitation occurs via capture of free excitons on neutral Er-related donor centers with subsequent Augerrecombination of bound excitons.

AbstractThe polymerization of I-I difluoroethylene has been realized by a non equilibrium plasma at an atmospheric pressure on polymeric substrates such as polypropylene (PP). The graft copolymerizat ion onto the PP film was carried out when activating the polymeric substrate in the presence of argon. The structure of the polymeric film obtained depends on the residual oxygen in the plasma reactor. The role of the radicals which interfere in the grafting mechanisms of monomers onto polypropylene films has been studied.
