The results of X-ray microanalysis of powders, obtained by electroerosive dispersion of the W-Ni-Fe alloy with various electrical parameters of the device, are presented. Conducted researches, aimed at establishing the elemental composition of powders, obtained by electroerosion dispersion of the alloy W-Ni-Fe, will determine the most rational area of their practical application.

In this report, the β-CD(AN-co-AA) hydrogel was used to remove the thorium(IV) [Th(IV)] from the water system, and the new adsorbent was characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The influences of contact time, pH value, ionic strength, solid-liquid ratio, initial Th(IV) concentration, and temperature on Th(IV) adsorption onto the functional hydrogel were researched. The results showed that the experimental data followed the Langmuir isotherm and the maximum adsorption capacity (qmax) for Th(IV) was 692 mg/g at pH 2.95, which approached the calculated (qe) 682 mg/g. The desorption capacity of Th(IV) in different HNO3 concentrations ranging from 0.005 to 0.5 M was also studied, and the percentage of the maximum desorption was 86.85% in the condition of 0.09 M HNO3. The selectivity of β-CD(AN-co-AA) hydrogel was also be studied, the results indicated that this material retained the good adsorption capacity to Th(IV) even when the Ca2+, Mg2+, or Pb2+ existed in the system. The findings indicate that β-CD(AN-co-AA) can be used as a new candidate for the enrichment and separation of Th(IV), or its analogue actinides, from large-volume solution in practical application.

Disulfide bonds and calcium ions contribute significantly to the stability of the hemocyanin from the mollusc Rapana thomasiana grosse (gastropod). An extremely powerful protective effect of Ca2+ at a concentration of 100 mᴍ (100% protection) against the destructive effect of reductants like dithiothreitol was observed. This is important for the practical application of molluscan hemocyanins in experimental biochemistry, immunology and medicine. The reduction of the disulfide bonds in the Rapana hemocyanin leads to a 20% decrease of the α-helical structure. The S-S bonds contribute significantly to the free energy of stabilization in water increasing ⊿GD H2O by 6.9 kJ mol-1. The data are related to the X-ray model of the Rapana hemocyanin functional unit RtH2e. The results of this study can be of common validity for related respiratory proteins because the cysteine residues are conserved in all sequences of molluscan hemocyanins published so far.

Ta/TaN bilayers have been deposited by a commercial self-ionized plasma (SIP) system. The microstructures of Ta/TaN bilayers have been systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction patterns and cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. TaN films deposited by SIP system are amorphous. The crystalline behavior of Ta film can be controlled by the N concentration of underlying TaN film. On amorphous TaN film with low N concentration, overdeposited Ta film is the mixture ofα- andβ-phases with amorphous-like structure. Increasing the N concentration of amorphous TaN underlayer successfully leads upper Ta film to form pureα-phase. For the practical application, the electrical property and reliability of Cu interconnection structure have been investigated by utilizing various types of Ta/TaN diffusion barrier. The diffusion barrier fabricated by the combination of crystallizedα-Ta and TaN with high N concentration efficiently reduces the KRc and improves the EM resistance of Cu interconnection structure.

Multiferroics have been known as materials exhibiting both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties in same phase, they have interesting physical properties as well as possibility of practical application in some new memories, spintronics and sensor devices. The present work reports the fabrication of pure and Nickel substituted Bismuth Ferrite by simple hydrothermal method at 180oC for 11 hours. The structural study was carried out using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and the Dielectric properties were investigated over a wide range of frequency and temperature. The image of SEM is in good agreement with the XRD analysis. The synthesis method is simple and cost effective. KEYWORDS: Multiferroics; Dielectric loss; Hydrothermal method; XRD.

AbstractAlN is a wide band gap material with promising properties for dosimetric applications, especially in UV dosimetry. In the present research, the thermoluminescence method is used in order to better understand sunlight and X-ray irradiation effects on yttria doped AlN ceramics. In general, the TL response is characterised by a broad TL peak with maxima around 400–450 K and a TL emission spectrum with UV (400 nm), Blue (480 nm) and Red (600 nm) bands. Compared to the X-ray irradiation, sunlight irradiation creates a wider TL glow curve peak with a maximum shifted to higher temperatures by 50 K.Furthermore, in the TL emission spectra of AlN irradiated with sunlight the UV band is suppressed. The reasons of the TL peculiarities under two types of irradiation are discussed. Practical application of AlN ceramics as material for UV light TL dosimetry and, in particular, for sunlight dosimetry is estimated.
