The Ag[Formula: see text]Cu[Formula: see text]Se and Ag[Formula: see text]Cu[Formula: see text]Se compounds have been synthesized and grown as single crystals. High-temperature X-ray diffraction method was used to study polymorphic transformations. It is shown that the Ag[Formula: see text]Cu[Formula: see text]Se crystals of high-temperature FCC modification are decomposed into Ag2Se and AgCuSe when the temperature decreases below T = 488 K and Ag[Formula: see text]Cu[Formula: see text]Se is decomposed into Cu2Se and AgCuSe when the temperature decreases below T = 540 K. Transformations in both compounds are reversible. Crystalline parameters are obtained and the temperature dependence of the lattice parameters for each phase is built.

We report on experimental results for the thermal diffuse X-ray-scattering cross section from Na single crystals. Data are presented for the [100], [110], and [111] directions taken in the temperature range from 38 K to the melting point. In addition we present a numerical calculation of the harmonic diffuse-scattering cross section including all orders of multiphonon contributions using a realistic phonon-dispersion relation. The results of this model are compared with a simpler approximation for the higher order multiphonon terms. The differences between the calculations and the experimental data show a distinct asymmetrical behaviour with respect to the reciprocal lattice points. Owing to this fact and their temperature dependence they can be related to anharmonic scattering. The contributions of the four lowest order terms are derived from the data. The lowest order antisymmetric contribution agrees quite well with available theoretical calculations.

Single crystals of lithium zinc titanate (Li2ZnTi3O8) were grown in a double-mirror type optical floating-zone furnace for the first time. Single crystals were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Laue measurements. The ionic conductivity of the single crystals was measured in the temperature range of 400–700 K. Below 600 K, the ionic conductivity of the single crystal is one to two orders of magnitude higher than that of polycrystalline Li2ZnTi3O8. In the temperature range of 550–600 K, the temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity shows non-Arrhenius behaviour.
