Five nanosized perovskite and four ferrospinel powders were prepared by sol–gel self-combustion technique. The La0.6Pb0.2Mg0.2MnO3 perovskite was found to exhibit the best catalytic performance with respect to propane combustion at low temperatures.

AbstractThe synthesis, structural characterization, and magnetic properties of three strontium rhodium oxides Sr6Rh5O15, Sr4Rh3O9+δ, and Sr9Rh7O21+δ, is presented. While Sr6Rh5O15 is an example of a commensurate n = 1 member of the A3n+3A'nBn+3O6n+9 family of oxides, Sr4Rh3O9+δ, and Sr9Rh7O21+°, are examples of incommensurate n =2 and n = 3 members. Sr6Rh5O15 crystallizes in space group R32, a = 19.3197(2) Å, c = 13.0418(1) Å. The Sr6Rh5O15 structure is a superstructure of the Ba6Ni5O15 structure type. Sr4Rh3O9+δ, and Sr9Rh7P21+δ crystallize in the superspace group with lattice parameters of a = 9.6007(6), c1 = 2.6881(2), c2 = 4.2373(3), and a = 9.6127(6), c1 = 2.6769(2), c2 = 4.252(1), respectively. Their magnetic data are consistent with antiferromagnetic coupling between the chains leading to an ordered state at low temperature.

The synthesis and characterization of mullite composite nanocrystaline from high-silica kaolin sampled from Tianyang County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is presented in this paper. Rough kaolin is firstly grounded and processed to remove impurities, iron and carbon before burned to produce composite oxides with mullite as major components. The composite oxides are further synthesized into composite mullite nanocrystaline by using hydrothermal crystallization process under low temperature and normal pressure. Tests on the composite nanocrystalline by TEM, TG-TDA, and X-ray diffraction methods show that the nanocrystalline range in size from 40 to 100 nm and are well textured. They also show significantly enhanced thermal stability at temperature as high as 1000oC.

Nanorods of Ni/Fe complex metal hydroxides precursor were fabricated by a microemulsion method. The nanorods were 20~30 nm in diameter and 600~1000 nm in length, with amorphous structure. Ni/Fe composite oxides were obtained by calcinations of Ni/Fe complex metal hydroxides precursor. At 500 °C, the sample retained the morphology of the nanorods, with the same diameter to the precursor and the length shortened to 300~400 nm. The crystal phase was composed of NiO and dispersed amorphous Fe2O3. When the calcination temperature was higher than 500 °C, the morphology of the nanorods of the precursor were collapsed to nanoparticles, and the crystal phase transformed to the mixture of NiO and NiFe2O4.
