In this work, the spectra for plasma glow produced by pulseNd:YAG laser (λ=532 and 1064nm) on Ag:Al alloy with same molarratio samples in distilled water were analyzed by studying the atomiclines compared with aluminum and silver strong standard lines. Theeffect of laser energies of the range 300 to 800 mJ on spectral lines, produced by laser ablation, were investigated using opticalspectroscopy. The electron temperature was found to be increasedfrom 1.698 to 1.899 eV, while the electron density decreased from2.247×1015 to 5.08×1014 cm-3 with increasing laser energy from 300to 800 mJ with wavelength of 1064 nm. The values of electrontemperature using second harmonic frequency are greater than of1064 nm, which increased from 2.405 to 2.444 eV, while the electrondensity decreased from 2.210×1015 to 1.516×1015 cm-3 withincreasing laser energy for the same energy range.

ABSTRACTSilicon carbide films are grown epitaxially on crystalline silicon substrates heated above 1000 °C, by laser ablation of pure carbon targets to thicknesses between 300 and 400 nm. These films grow on top of the silicon substrate from the carbon in the ablation plume and from the silicon of the substrate. By using a method of alternate ablation of a pure carbon and a pure silicon target, similar epitaxial films can be grown to thicknesses in excess of 1 μm with part of the silicon being supplied by the ablation plume of the silicon target.

Composite Ag–Cu and Ni–C nanoparticles were synthesized by laser ablation and spark discharge in liquid, respectively. An amplification of the signal during laser induced breakdown spectroscopy was observed after deposition of the nanoparticles on the surface of an aluminum foil. The emission intensity of the laser plume increased from 2 to 20 times depending on the spectral lines used for the measurements. The intensity growth was higher for Ag–Cu nanoparticles.

The effects on photographic meteor spectra produced by an occulting shutter and by the geometric orientation of the trail with respect to the camera are considered. A Perseid meteor photographed with both an occulted and unocculted spectrograph shows that large changes in the relative intensity of spectral lines can be caused by a shutter. The strong wake spectrum of this meteor is studied and a classification of multiplets according to duration and wake intensity is presented. It is emphazised that a strong wake is produced by a coasting gas rather than by particles or droplets. The gas may coast an appreciable distance during the radiating lifetime of some multiplets. The spectrum of a bright Quadrantid meteor is used to show that long-duration multiplets are strongly enhanced when the orientation of the trail lengthens the effective path length of the wake column, i.e., the meteor is observed near its radiant. The abundance of calcium appears to be above average in this meteor.Multiple photographs of the λ5577 line of neutral oxygen have been secured showing a decay time in excess of 1·5 sec. The decay is more rapid at lower heights and it appears that the mechanism of excitation to the metastable level operates for an interval of about 0·1 sec.As more accurate photometry of meteor spectra is achieved it will be essential to give careful attention to all of these effects.
