Abstract6 to 80 Å thin Ni(111) films were prepared on smooth and rough W(110) substrates in UHV and characterized by LEED and Auger spectroscopies. The measurements of the magnetic properties were carried out in situ by ferromagnetic resonance at 9 GHz between 300 and 600 K. We found that the effective anisotropies, which consist of surface, crystal, and stress induced anisotropy, increase with decreasing film thickness and temperature. The roughness of the substrate results in the drastic decrease of the effective anisotropy. This is attributed to the change of the surface structure and the stress within the Ni films. Furthermore we found that the Curie temperature Tc and the critical exponent β of Ni films on the smooth and rough substrates show no change.

Anisotropic Pr12.5Fe72.5Co6Cr2B7 magnetic powders are obtained by varying the desorption H2-pressure of the hydrogenation disproportionation desorption recombination (HDDR) process. The magnetic powders with a desorption H2-pressure of 30 kPa have the magnetic properties of Br =0.96 T, iHc=8.2 kOe and Br/Bs =0.78, whereas the magnetic powders obtained with a higher and a lower desorption H2-pressure are isotropic. A distinct lamella crystal is observed in the 30 kPa desorption H2-pressure products and may be related to the anisotropy in the HDDR-treated powders. It is believed that the desorption H2-pressure has great effect on the formation of crystal texture in the HDDR Pr-Fe-B powders.

The results of experimental research into magnetic properties of amorphous Co-P films obtained by chemical sedimentation on various intermediate layers have been represented. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of films sedimentated on intermediate layers of Pd crystal and amorphous NiP compound have been measured .The features of formation of domain structures and magnetization processes in the presence and absence of the induced anisotropy have been described.
