Coercive forces (He) of Fe–Ni films were observed to depend on thickness, Fe/Ni ratio, and preferred crystal orientation in accordance with predictions based on the Behringer–Smith model. Annealing induces marked crystal growth and orientation of [111] axis normal to the plane in the Ni-rich films (> 80% Ni), but only moderate growth in the Fe-rich (< 80% Ni) films. He for Ni-rich films increases markedly while He for iron-rich films decreases slightly due to annealing. Variations of the anisotropy field, Hk, due to applied stress, indicate that reduction of He for the Fe-rich films results from moderate crystal growth while the increase of He for the Ni-rich films is due to the preferred orientation.

The Stoner-Wohlfarth model can be used for predicting hysteresis curves of either isotropic or anisotropic nanocrystalline Sm2Co17 type magnets. For isotropic magnets, with Mr/Ms=0.5, the Stoner-Wohlfarth model predicts coercive force of 48% of the anisotropy field. Here, Mr is remanence and Ms is magnetization of saturation. Two texture distributions were compared: Pearson VII and cosn. The calculations indicate that increasing the alignment degree of the grains, the coercivity increases. However, this increase of the coercive force is small. It is found that a very well aligned magnet, with Mr/Ms ratio of 0.96, presents coercivity only ~20% higher than that of the isotropic magnet.

The comparison of spontaneous magnetization losses in sintered magnets (Pr0.51Dy0.49)13(Fe0.64Co0.36)80B7 and (Pr0.51Dy0.49)13(Fe0.64Co0.36)79Cu1B % at. has shown that copper doping leads to a reduction in these losses. This is due both to phase homogenization, which reduces the scattering fields at the phase boundaries, and to the growth of the average anisotropy field and the coercive force, which stabilizes the time characteristics of the magnet. It is found that at room temperature the demagnetization dynamics is described by an exponential function.

The main magnetic parameters sensitive to the structure of steels are the parameters of their saturation loop of magnetic hysteresis: the coercive force Hcs and remanent magnetization Mrs. The saturation magnetization or saturation intensity Mr is most sensitive to the phase composition of steels. The variety of steel grades and modes of technological treatment (e.g., heat treatment, mechanical load) determined the use of magnetic structurescopy and magnetic characteristics — the coercive force Hc, remanent magnetization Mr , and specific hysteresis losses Wh on the subloops of the magnetic hysteresis of steels — as control parameters in diagnostics of the stressed and structural states of steel structures and pipelines. It has been shown that changes in Hc, Mr , and Wh are more sensitive to structural stresses and structures of steels than the parameters of the saturation hysteresis loop of magnetic hysteresis (Hcs, Mrs, and Mrs). The formulas for calculating Hc, Mr and Wh are presented to be used for estimation of changes in the parameters upon heat treatment of steels. Features of the structural sensitivity of the subloop characteristics and expediency of their use for magnetic structural and phase analyzes are determined. Thus, the range of changes in Ìr attributed to the structural changes in steels upon gradual Hm decrease is many times wider compared to the range of possible changes in Mrs under the same conditions. Conditions (relations between the magnetic parameters) and recommendations regarding the choice of the field strength Hm are given which provide the justified use of Hc, Mr and Wh parameters in magnetic structurescopy

Abstract Ancorsteel phosphorus alloys are ferrous base powders for PM parts requiring superior electromagnetic performance.
