In heavy ion collisions, charged particles come from two parts: the hot and dense matter and the leading particles. In this paper, the hot and dense matter is assumed to expand according to the hydrodynamic model including phase transition and decouples into particles via the prescription of Cooper-Frye. The leading particles are as usual supposed to have Gaussian rapidity distributions with the number equaling that of participants. The investigations of this paper show that, unlike low energy situations, the leading particles are essential in describing the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles produced in high energy heavy ion collisions. This might be due to the different transparencies of nuclei at different energies.

We present an introductory review of the early-time dynamics of high-energy heavy-ion collisions and the kinetics of high-temperature quantum chromodynamic matter. The equilibration mechanisms in the quark–gluon plasma uniquely reflect the nonabelian and ultrarelativistic character of the many-body system. Starting with a brief exposé of the key theoretical and experimental questions, we provide an overview of the theoretical tools employed in weak coupling studies of the early-time nonequilibrium dynamics. We highlight theoretical progress in understanding different thermalization mechanisms in weakly coupled nonabelian plasmas, and discuss their relevance in describing the approach to local thermal equilibrium during the first fm/ c of a heavy-ion collision. We also briefly discuss some important connections to the phenomenology of heavy-ion collisions.

In this work, we review what we consider are some of the most relevant results of heavy-ion physics at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This paper is not intended to cover all the many important results of the experiments, instead we present a brief overview of the current status on the characterization of the hot and dense Quantum-Chromo Dynamics (QCD) medium produced in the heavy-ion collisions. Recent exciting results which are still under debate are discussed too, leading to intriguing questions like whether we have a real or fake Quark-Gulon Plasma (QGP) formation in small systems.
