Aloe vera L. contains antiseptic saponins and anthraquinone complexes as antibacterial. This research was conducted to formulate aloe vera powder into nanoemulgel, characterize and test its physical properties, and to know the effect of gelling agent concentration (carbopol and chitosan) on nanoemulgel. Emulsion type used is oil in water (O / W) with surfactant tween 80 and co-surfactant propylene glycol. Nanoemulsion is characterized by percent of transmittance with UV-Vis spectrophotometer, also potential droplet and zeta size distribution with Particle Size Analyzer. Hydrogels consist of 4 combination formulas of carbopol 0.5%; 1%; 1.5%; 2% and 0.3% chitosan. The formula is tested for physical properties including organoleptic, pH, spreadability, adhesion, viscosity and stability with freeze thaw method. The results showed that the nanoemulsion droplet size was 65.05nm ± 13.49 with zeta potential of -0.1mV and the percent of transmittance above 98%. The result of physical properties of the four formulas shows that the different gelling agent concentration gives different physical properties of viscosity and spreadability. Overall, formula 3 has the best physical properties and physical stability compared to formula 1, 2 and 4.

Soil contamination with pesticide has caused critical environmental and health defects and increasing attention has been paid for developing innovative technology for cleaning up this contamination. In this study, the effects of cationic surfactant cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide, anionic surfactant sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate, and non-ionic Tween 80 on the adsorption of fluazinam at the concentration of 1/2 CMC, 1 × CMC and 2 × CMC in three soils were evaluated by using batch equilibrium experiment. The K values followed the order as: S1 > S2 > S3 in absence of surfactants. The use of a nonionic surfactant considerably weaken the fluazinam retention, while that of cationic surfactant has the reverse trend. The effects of anionic surfactant on the adsorption of fluazinam in soils is related to soil physicochemical properties and anionic surfactant concentration. These results are of practical interest in developing effective surfactant remediation technology for fluazinam contaminated soils.

The present study evaluates the in vitro release of diclofenac sodium (DFNa) from contact lenses based on poly-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (pHEMA) hydrogels containing an embedded microemulsion to extend release duration. The oil (ethyl butyrate)-in-water microemulsion systems are prepared with two non-ionic surfactants, Brij 97 or Tween 80, together with a long-alkyl chain cationic surfactant, cetalkonium chloride (CKC). Without CKC, Brij 97 or Tween 80-based microemulsions showed average droplet sizes of 12 nm and 18 nm, respectively. The addition of CKC decreased the average droplet sizes to 2–5 nm for both non-ionic surfactants. Such significant reduction in the average droplet size corresponds to an increase in the DFNa release duration as revealed by the in vitro experiments. Contact lens characterization showed that important properties such as optical transparency and water content of Brij 97-based contact lenses with cationic microemulsions was excellent. However, the optical transparency of the corresponding Tween 80 based contact lenses was unsatisfactory. The results indicate that cationic microemulsion-laden contact lenses can benefit from combinatory effects of microemulsions and cationic surfactant at low CKC weight percentage, e.g., with the release of 70% of the drug in 45, 10, and 7 h for B97-CKC-0.45%, CKC-0.45%, and control lenses, respectively. However, the microemulsion effect on extending DFNa release became negligible at the highest CKC weight percentage (1.8%).

The preparation suppositories contain 250 mg of paracetamol on different bases using Novata BD, Novata BCF and composition of Novata BCF/BD (1:1). Suppositories were prepared by the fusion method. The prepared formulations with or without surfactants (Tween 80, Span 60) at concentrations of 2% and 4% (w/w) were tested for hardness, to tal time of de for ma tion, disintegration time, content uniformity and release of the drug. The release of the drug was carried in the apparatus with the stirrer shade in phosphate buffer (pH 7.2) at 100 rpm. The physical properties of the prepared suppositories were according with the requirement of Polish Pharmacopoeia 9th edition. Addition of 4 % Tween 80 to suppository bases significantly increased the drug release from all the investigated formulations. However, incorporation of Span 60 did not result in improvement of the drug release significantly.

The morphology of SnO2nanoarrays prepared on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates by hydrothermal method can be controlled through using different surfactants. The surfactants play an important role in influencing the morphology and size of SnO2nanoarrays. The rod-like nano-arrays prepared by using cationic surfactant, disordered structure randomly assembled by nanoparticle obtained by using anionic surfactant, the flower-like nanoarrays synthesized by using nonionic surfactant. Furthermore, the effect of the amount of nonionic surfactant-polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP) on the morphology and size of flower-like SnO2nanoarrays has systematically been investigated.

The effects of soil organic matter, clay, extractable Al, cation exchange capacity, and pH on the adsorption of picloram (4-amino-3,5,6-trichloropicolinic acid) from aqueous and surfactant solutions were investigated. Linear adsorption isotherms for the soils were obtained with the Freundlich equation. Of the five soil properties investigated, Freundlich K values correlated with extractable Al and clay content. Picloram adsorption from aqueous solutions and from the non-ionic and anionic surfactant solutions was greater on the soils at pH 5 than at pH 7. The anionic surfactant competed with picloram for adsorption sites on the soils at pH 5. Picloram adsorption from solutions containing 0.1 and 1% cationic surfactant was greater than that from aqeuous and anionic and nonionic surfactant solutions. Picloram adsorption from the 10% cationic surfactant solution was similar on soils with pH 5 and 7 and increased with decreased organic matter content.
