Herein, a bifunctional A2B-type cobalt(iii) corrole having electron withdrawing meso-pentafluorophenyl and basic meso-p-aminophenyl substituents is reported, which exhibits excellent catalytic activity towards both the oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions.

A silica modified amorphous titania (TiO2–SiO2) electrocatalyst was prepared by a simple, cheap, and scalable preparation procedure. The catalyst is active in the oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions, leading to a promising bifunctional electrocatalyst.
