A series of alkali metal cerium diphenylhydrazido complexes, Mx(py)y[Ce(PhNNPh)4], M = Li, Na, and K, x = 4 (Li and Na) or 5 (K), and y = 4 (Li), 8 (Na), or 7 (K), were synthesized to probe how a secondary coordination sphere would modulate electronic structures at a cerium cation.

Abstract Ba2ZnGe2S6O was prepared for the first time and the crystal structure determined by using single crystal X-ray methods. The space group is D32d-P4̄21m, tetragonal (No. 113). Lattice constants: a = 963.59 ± 0.22; c = 645.06 ± 0.25 pm. The tetrahedral framework structure is described and discussed. Zn is linked only to sulfur. The oxygen belongs to the coordination sphere of Ge and Ba.

In experiments on mice undergone to an acute hypercapnic hypoxia and an acute hypobaric hypoxia a screening of antihypoxants among new selenium containing metal complex substances was performed after their intra-abdominal and oral introductions. It was found that substances πQ1983 and πQ2170 on both models of hypoxia make the defensive effects surpassing actions well-known antihypoxants such as amthizole and bemythil. It was shown that antihypoxiс affects of studied substances depend on their caused hypothermia. For the first time the protective action of selenium containing metal complex compounds was demonstrated after their introduction per os.

Ligands L1 and L2 are utilized in POM chemistry for the first time. Different Keggin anions induce distinct 2D structures of compounds 1/2 and 3/4 in Ag–L1 and Ag–L2 systems, respectively. By adding AgI and CuI to the PMo12–L2 system different 3 and 5 were formed.

<p>We report, f<i>or the first time</i>, a novel mechanistic tactic to directly modify the coordination sphere of Cu(II)–Aβ complexes in a metal binding residue-specific manner, which can prevent Cu(II) binding to Aβ, modulate the aggregation of Cu(II)–Aβ, and generate chemically transformed Aβ with less cytotoxicity, to the best of our knowledge.</p>
