Three p-type small molecules (CL-1–3) based on tetraphenylethylene as the core and different π-conjugation diarylamines as linkers are synthesized. The bilayer HTL of the NiOx/CL-3-based cell exhibits the best power conversion efficiency of 20.15%.

The dipole moment of FREAs’ terminals has been unveiled as an important factor and its working mechanism has been thoroughly investigated. Our results demonstrate that the dipole moment should also be taken into account in designing ternary OSCs.

An asymmetrical acceptor AY6 was designed by combining the advantages of IT6-4F and Y6. Amorphous AY6 interacting with PM6 forms a perfect face-on orientation with strong π–π stacking, achieving not only a high PCE but also a high FF.
