A series of ultralong (up to tens of micrometers) MoO3 nanowire-based membranes were synthesized for the treatment of aqueous solutions containing the cationic dyes methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB). This treatment method possesses extremely rapid and superhigh adsorbability (up to 521 and 321 mg/g for MB and RhB, respectively), as well excellent selective adsorption ability of cationic dyes with respect to the anionic dye methyl orange (MO). Moreover, the cationic dyes on the membrane can be desorbed easily, and reusability is good.

This investigation focused on the photocatalytic degradation of o2-chlorophenol in aqueous solution by using hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) doped polypyrrole (PPy) composite under solar irradiation. The composite was prepared via in-situ oxidation polymerization method using FeCl3 as oxidation agent. The synthesized h-BN/PPy composite were comprehensively characterized using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The photodegradation of 2-chlorophenol was performed under direct sunlight for 180 minutes with initial concentration (50-250 mg/L) and pH (3-9). h-BN/PPy composite efficiently degraded 2-chlorophenol (91.1%) with optimum conditions at pH 6 and 50 mg/L initial concentration compared to PPy and h-BN.

In this study, amino-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes ( MWCNTs - NH 2) were successfully synthesized via an improved method and used for removal of organic dyes in aqueous solution. The synthesized MWCNTs - NH 2 were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscope (SEM), etc. The adsorption capacity and selectivity of MWCNTs - NH 2 for organic dyes was evaluated using rhodamine B ( RhB ), malachite green (MG), methyl orange (MO) and congo red (CR) as models. The selective adsorption toward anionic dyes was found for the MWCNTs - NH 2, and MO was selected as a typical anionic dye to deeply investigate the adsorption kinetics, equilibrium isotherms and thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption process. The adsorption kinetics and equilibrium isotherms data fitted well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir isotherm model. The thermodynamics study revealed that the adsorption of MO onto MWCNTs - NH 2 was spontaneous, exothermic and physisorptive in nature. The results indicated that MWCNTs - NH 2 are promising nanomaterials for removal of anionic dyes from industrial wastewater.
