Materials and processing of transparent electrodes (TEs) are key factors to creating high-performance translucent perovskite solar cells. To date, sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) has been a general option for a rear TE of translucent solar cells. However, it requires a rather high cost due to vacuum process and also typically causes plasma damage to the underlying layer. Therefore, we introduced TE based on ITO nanoparticles (ITO-NPs) by solution processing in ambient air without any heat treatment. As it reveals insufficient conductivity, Ag nanowires (Ag-NWs) are additionally coated. The ITO-NPs/Ag-NW (0D/1D) bilayer TE exhibits a better figure of merit than sputtered ITO. After constructing CsPbBr3 perovskite solar cells, the device with 0D/1D TE offers similar average visible transmission with the cells with sputtered ITO. More interestingly, the power conversion efficiency of 0D/1D TE device was 5.64%, which outperforms the cell (4.14%) made with sputtered-ITO. These impressive findings could open up a new pathway for the development of low-cost, translucent solar cells with quick processing under ambient air at room temperature.

We have produced nanocarbon suspension in pure water, which is named as Nanocaloid®, by a simple DC electrolysis from a synthetic graphite plates as anodes and SUS plates as cathodes in purified water at room temperature. The amount of carbon nanoparticles was monitored by the conductivity and pH value of the electrolyte solution, and also by a simple gravimetric way after drying the solution. If the current density increases, the diameter of the carbon particles becomes larger and the amount of precipitates becomes also large. It takes about six weeks to obtain about 0.4 wt% carbon suspension solution under the normal electrolysis conditions. Characterization of Nanocaloid®has been conducted to show unique properties and promising epoch-making applications such as solid lubricants for non-oily cutting fluids and conductive agents for reuse of deteriorated Pb-acid batteries. The performance of nanocarbon particles in oil lubricants in addition to the preparation will be reported.

Fumigants that are liquid formulations at room temperature have been widely used to kill insects in stored products, containers, and soil. Carbon bisulfide was one of the first fumigants used on a large scale as early as 1869 and is still the main fumigant used in some parts of the world (Bond 1984). Carbon bisulfide is highly flammable (Fleming and Baker 1935) and is usually formulated with carbon tetrachloride to aid distribution of fumigants in grain masses (Berck 1958) and to reduce the fire hazard. Although carbon tetrachloride is of low toxicity to insects it causes extensive liver damage in humans (Rouiller 1964). Liquid fumigants were widely used to disinfest stored grain in the USA until recently (White et al. 1985), and are still used in many other parts of the world (FA0 1985).
