We report for the first time the controllable growth of tubular nanostructures at the nanoscale of the broadly applied organic drug material, tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)gallium (Gaq3), by an extremely facile approach.

ABSTRACTA new method for the build-up of non-centrosymmetric multilayer thin films has been developed for the first time using an electric field-assisted electrostatic self-assembled monolayer (EF-ESAM) technique. An increase by 116% of the second-harmonic intensity of the films has been observed in comparison with that of ESAM film.

AbstractThe strain status of the buried InAs self-assembled quantum dot was comprehended by measurement first time. Results show the in-plane strain is compressive and lattice in the growth direction is lager than the lattice of GaAs. The strain of the sample annealed at 650 degree relaxes in the growth direction. The growth and the lateral direction become relaxed in the sample annealed at 750 degree.

ABSTRACTNanometer-sized bismuth has successfully been prepared using a high-temperature organic reducing system by presence of proper capping/stabilizing agents. Self-assembly of bismuth was, at the first time, obtained using size-selected nanoparticles (15nm in size). Various synthetic conditions, which may significantly affect the formation of self-assembled nanocrystalline bismuth, have been optimized and discussed in this paper. The as-prepared nanocrystallites exist in a single rhombohedral phase with high crystallinity, and oxidation problem has been efficiently overcome within limited period by employing this method.
