A novel NiFe2O4@GN–Pd was used as outstanding catalyst for the Suzuki reaction in EtOH/H2O. The hybrid catalyst could be recycled and reused with the simple application of an external magnetic field, while keeping similar catalytic activity for six successive reactions.

AbstractNew magnetically recoverable catalysts have been synthesized by deposition of 1% palladium (Pd)-metal on the polymer poly(1-oxo-trimethylene), containing 15% of magnetite. The magnetite allows the complete recovery of the catalyst with the simple application of an external magnetic field. The activity of such a catalyst has been studied under phosphine-free conditions in the alkoxycarbonylation of iodobenzene to the corresponding benzoic acid esters.

For the first time, a magnetic C-scorpionate catalyst was prepared from the iron(II) complex [FeCl2{κ3-HC(pz)3}] (pz = pyrazol-1-yl) and ferrite, using the sustainable mechanochemical synthetic procedure. Its catalytic activity for the cyclohexane oxidation with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) was evaluated in different conditions, namely under microwave irradiation and under the effect of an external magnetic field. The use of such magnetic conditions significantly shifted the catalyst alcohol/ketone selectivity, thus revealing a promising, easy new protocol for tuning selectivity in important catalytic processes.

Heterogeneous tandem cyclization of 2-alkynylbenzamides with ammonium acetate is achieved in acetonitrile at 85 °C using a magnetic nanoparticles-immobilized bipy-gold(III) complex and AgSbF6 as catalysts to afford a variety of 1-aminoisoquinoline derivatives in moderate to high yields. This heterogeneous gold catalyst can be easily recovered from the reaction mixture by simply applying an external magnetic field and can be recycled at least seven times without any apparent loss of catalytic activity.

We have synthesized a kind of magnetic lipase–Cu3(PO4)2 nanoflowers (lipase@MNFs), which can be separated quickly from the reaction system under the external magnetic field. Compared with free lipase, the lipase@MNFs exhibited higher enzymatic activity (∼110%) and stability.
