The synthesis of a ruthenium complex bearing a PN-chelating ligand is described. The complex, in the presence of KOH, enabled the synthesis of ketones from secondary alcohols in the absence of a hydrogen acceptor in aqueous medium. This synthetic protocol, which uses water as the medium, is green and has a high atom economy as it avoids the use of an acceptor and produces hydrogen as the sole byproduct. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the catalytic cycle involves a phosphine dissociative pathway.

AbstractA one-pot three component reaction of benzaldehydes, 1H-tetrazole-5-amine, and 3-cyanoacetyl indole in the presence of a new hexamethylenetetramine-based ionic liquid/MIL-101(Cr) metal–organic framework as a recyclable catalyst was explored. This novel catalyst, which was fully characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, EDX, FT-IR, TGA, BET, and TEM exhibited outstanding catalytic activity for the preparation of a range of pharmaceutically important tetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-6-carbonitriles with good to excellent yields in short reaction time.

AbstractA convenient and efficient solvent-free, facile, one-pot three-component graphene oxide catalysed approach has been described for the synthesis of chromeno-[4,3-b]quinolin-6-one derivatives from 4-hydroxycoumarin with aldehydes and aromatic amines. Graphene oxide (GO) has proved to be a new class of heterogeneous carbocatalyst which could be easily recovered and reused up to 5th run without significant loss of its catalytic activity. A broad scope of substrate applicability is offered and a plausible mechanism is also suggested for this developed protocol.

Tungsten-containing functional mesoporousW-SiO2 have been successfully synthesized by an one-pot and facile room-temperature procedure. These materials presented a high dispersion of tungsten species and excellent catalytic activity on the removal of sulfur compounds without any organic solvents as extractants. The catalytic performance on sulfur compounds was investigated in detail. After recycling for 8 times, the removal of the oxidation desulfurization system could still reach 92.0%.
