The magnetic properties of NiAs2O4and CoAs2O4single crystals were investigated. The unexpected behaviour of ZFC-FC curves of NiAs2O4is detected around 20 K, where the transition to the ferromagnetic state has been clearly observed.

We report on the synthesis and physical properties of cm-sized CoGeO3 single crystals grown in a high pressure mirror furnace at pressures of 80 bar. Direction dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements on our single crystals reveal highly anisotropic magnetic properties that we attribute to the impact of strong single ion anisotropy appearing in this system with TN∼33.5 K. Furthermore, we observe effective magnetic moments that are exceeding the spin only values of the Co ions, which reveals the presence of sizable orbital moments in CoGeO3.

This paper presents magnetic properties of manganese substituted barium hexaferrite BaFe12-xMnxO19 single crystals. Crystals of BaFe12–xMnxO19 with x up to 1.5 and sizes up to 8 mm were observed. The influence of Fe substitution by Mn on the magnetic properties was investigated. For the BaFe10.5Mn1.5O19 single crystal samples saturation magnetization reduced from 72 to 63.5 emu/g at room temperature, and Curie temperature decreased from 455 to 380 °C.

AbstractWell oriented KYb(WO4)2 and KTb0.2Yb0.8(WO4)2 single crystals have been investigated for their magnetic and optical properties using the Raman and EPR techniques. The registered EPR signal is dominated by three lines ascribed to ytterbium ions: one main and two satellites. Tb ions, although non-paramagnetic, distinctly modify magnetic properties of the KYb(WO4)2 single crystal. Basic parameters of the spin Hamiltonian, including Zeeman and hyperfine terms (g and A matrices) as well the spatial orientation between principal and crystallographic axes systems were determined for both crystals.

β-Cu3Fe4(VO4)6 single crystals were synthesized. The X-ray, magnetic, Mössbauer, and EPR investigations of the crystals were fulfilled. It is established that single-crystal β-Cu3Fe4(VO4)6 is a spin glass at low temperatures. Freezing temperature varies considerably depending on the orientation of the magnetic field relative to the crystal axes. Spin-glass state is confirmed by the relaxation of the magnetization.

Magnetization measurements on single crystals of YBa2Cu3O7 are used to study the anisotropy of the critical current density and magnetic properties of this superconducting oxide with a transition temperature of 88 K. Anisotropy of the magnetization versus applied field hysteresis loops is pronounced, with the effect increasing as the temperature approaches the superconducting critical temperature.
