Based upon theories that describe the process of family stress adaptation, we model changes in family demands and satisfaction with family life during the COVID-19 pandemic among a sample of n = 1,042 respondents from Germany. Moreover, based on ecological perspectives on the role of family context, we consider partnership status and parental status as predictors of changes in these variables over time. Using a longitudinal research design, we model co-occurring trajectories of changes in family demands and satisfaction with family life between early April 2020 and early September 2020 using unconditional and conditional multivariate latent growth curve modeling. Results suggest that, on average, both family demands and satisfaction with family life increased across this time period and that having minor children ≤ 17 years of age was associated with decreases in satisfaction with family life across time. Moreover, an exploratory analysis suggests that partnership status may help offset the positive relationship between parental status and family demands. These findings have implications for future research on family life during a crisis and suggest that single parents of young children should be the focus of interventions to reduce family-related stressors and increase levels of family wellbeing during times of crisis.

This study was conducted to ensure that the family environment research method “Satisfaction with the family live scale” (SWFL) (Agate, Zabriskie, et.al., 2009) can be adapted to Latvia’s circumstances. The research cohort (n=485) was made up of 161 men and 321 women aged 18-21. There were four hypotheses in the study: 1) SWFL should not be correlated with gender and age in the 18-22 age group; 2) SWFL should indicate positive correlation with cohesion in family and 3) negative correlation with conflicts in family 4) Items of instrument must establish one factor. The study analyses the adaptation of the survey and reflects the major results in terms of utilising the survey for scholarly research and practical work in relation to an examination of the family environment in Latvia. Internal compatibility was measured on the basis of the Cronbach alpha (ɑ = 0.86). The results of the research confirm the stated hypotheses and make it possible to conclude that adaptation of the survey was successful. This study investigated the mediator effect of satisfaction with family life in the relationship between social ignore and social media addiction among adolescents. The research was conducted on 456 high school students studying in the 2019 academic year. Ages of the students vary between 14 and 16 years old. Social Media Addiction Scale, Social Ostracism Scale, and Satisfaction with Family Life Scale were used to collect data. SPSS 25 software package and PROCESS software package developed by Hayes as an add-on to SPSS were used in the data analysis. It was found that social ignore predicted social media addiction positive significantly and satisfaction with family life negatively. It was observed that satisfaction with family life predicted social media addiction negative significantly. It was also found that satisfaction with family life mediated the relationship between social ignore and social media addiction.

ABSTRACTThe aim of the current study is to examine the associations between the quality of relationships and life satisfaction of older mothers in Estonia, Germany, Russia and the People's Republic of China, based on the assumptions of the Family Change Theory. The role of satisfaction with family life as the probable mediating factor is considered. Estonian older mothers reported the least admiration and intimacy in their relationships with their adult daughters, and the least satisfaction with family life compared to German, Russian and Chinese mothers. German older mothers perceived the most admiration from their adult daughters and were the most satisfied with both their family and general life. Russian older mothers were the least satisfied with their general life compared to their counterparts in Estonia, Germany and China. The results from the Structural Equation Modelling showed that the relationship between satisfaction with family life and general life satisfaction was statistically significant in all countries except Russia. The satisfaction with family life as a mediating factor might strengthen the positive and negative aspects of intergenerational relationships on the life satisfaction of older mothers. The findings indicated that the emotional closeness and intergenerational relationships in families during the process of transition and globalisation play an important role in the life satisfaction of older mothers in these four countries.

Artikel ini membahas keluarga sebagai objek prioritas dalam berdakwah. Hal ini dikarenakan setiap manusia, pasti menyerap pemikiran, ajaran, dan nilai-nilai agama yang hidup dalam keluarganya; keluarga adalah miniatur dari komunitas dan masyarakat Islam. Keluarga juga merupakan kelanjutan logis dari kedua fungsi keluarga di atas, maka institusi keluarga dengan sendirinya menjadi salah satu faktor penentu bagi kekuatan dan kelemahan umat Islam secara keseluruhan. Adanya globalisasi telah memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap masyarakat, termasuk dakwah. Seperti: melonggarnya ikatan keluarga, melemahnya ikatan-ikatan moral akibat dari paham serba halal, permissivenisme (al-ibahiyyah) dan paham hedonisme yang menyertai modernisme, serta kegoncangan jiwa yang mengganggu ketenangan dan kedamaian keluarga dan rumah tangga. Sehingga dakwah dalam keluarga menuntut aktualisasi sistem dan nilai-nilai Islam dalam kehidupan keluarga. Di samping itu, dalam artikel ini penulis mencoba mengemukakan hal-hal pokok yang perlu diperhatikan dalam pembinaan keluarga Islam sebagai pilar utama dakwah. Pertama, soal pembentukan keluarga melalui pernikahan. Kedua, soal pendidikan dan penanaman nilai-nilai agama dalam keluarga. Ketiga, soal penegakan keadilan dan kesetaraan gender. Karena ketiga hal ini berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan dan ketahanan keluarga Islam. This article discusses the family as a priority object in da'wah. This is because every human being, must absorb the thoughts, teachings, and religious values ​​that live in his/her family; the family is a miniature of the Islamic community and society. The family is also a logical continuation of the two family functions above, so the family institution itself is one of the determining factors for the strengths and weaknesses of the Muslim community as a whole. The existence of globalization has had a significant impact on society, including propaganda. Such as: loosening of family ties, weakening of moral ties as a result of all-round understanding, permissivenism (al-ibahiyyah) and understanding of hedonism that accompany modernism, and the shock of the soul that disturbs the peace and peace of family and household. So preaching in the family demands the actualization of Islamic systems and values ​​in family life. In addition, in this article the author tries to put forward the main things that need to be considered in fostering Islamic families as the main pillars of da'wah. First, a matter of forming a family through marriage. Second, the education and the inculcation of religious values ​​in the family. Third, the matter of upholding justice and gender equality. Because these three things affect the strength and resilience of Islamic families.

Introduction: Couples struggling with infertility, as well as those after experiencing a miscarriage, deal with many types of stressors, in the face of which they react with anxiety, regret and depression, which negatively affects fertility and is associated with an increased risk of miscarriage. The use of different coping strategies seems to have different effects on the stress of infertility and miscarriage experiences. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between depression related to infertility and miscarriage and satisfaction with family life, as well as the role of using the reframing in predicting family life satisfaction in the group of depressive infertile couples and after miscarriage. Methods: The study involved 90 couples: 50 couples after miscarriage and 40 couples diagnosed with infertility. The participants completed a questionnaire examining the level of depressiveness (Giessen Test), coping strategies in the family (F-copes) and the family assessment scale (Flexibility and Cohesion Evaluation Scales; SOR). The actor partner interdependence model was used for data analysis. Results: The findings showed that the level of partner depressiveness in both infertile and post-miscarriage couples predicted lower satisfaction with family life in women and men, while husband depressiveness was significant for women's family life satisfaction, but not the other way around. The reframing strategy by partners in both studied groups significantly weakened the relationship between partners’ depressiveness and the level of satisfaction with life. Conclusions: Stress is one of the most important risk factors influencing the results of infertility treatment and spontaneous miscarriage, therefore it is important to identify all factors related to depression symptoms and life satisfaction of infertile and post-miscarriage couples.
