The use of conductive polymers as a substitute for metallic conductors and semiconductors has attracted much attention in the literature. In particular, aromatic heterocyclic polymers constitute an important class since they possess chemical and electrical stability in both the oxidized (doped) and neutral (undoped) state. A series of poly(pyrrole- co-2-nitrocinnamaldehyde) were obtained via the condensation of pyrrole and 2-nitrocinnamaldehyde in chloroform using acid exchanged montmorillonite clay called maghnite-H+ as an efficient catalyst. The conjugated copolymer was characterized using proton nuclear magnetic resonance, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.

We demonstrated the synthesis and characterization of two polymers, IDT-T1 and IDTT-T1, to investigate the effect of extending the π-conjugation length on the properties of the copolymers.

The synthesis of four N-functionalized bis[1]benzothieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrroles (BBTPs) is reported in order to provide a more detailed characterization of these fused-ring units, as well as increase the scope of known BBTP units available for application to conjugated materials. The optical, electronic, and structural properties of the resulting BBTP units have been compared to the parent N-alkyl- and N-aryl-dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrroles (DTPs), as well as their corresponding 2,6-diphenyl derivatives, in order to fully quantify the relative electronic effects resulting from benzannulation of the parent DTP building block. Such comparative analysis reveals that benzannulation results in a red-shifted absorbance, but to a lesser extent than simple phenyl-capping of the DTP. More surprising is that benzannulation results in stabilization of the BBTP HOMO, compared to the destabilization normally observed with extending the conjugation length of the backbone.

Abstract The species R-C7H7Cr(CO)3 (R = -CH2COCH3 , -CH(CH3)COCH3 , -CH(CH)CH3)2COCH3) have been synthesized by reaction of [η7-C7H7Cr(CO)3][BF4] with suitable ketones in the presence of bases like OH- and F- , suggesting a nucleophilic addition of the enolate ion to the cycloheptatrienyl ligand. 1H NMR spectra revealed the CH3-CO-CH(CH3) group being bonded to the cycloheptatriene ligand via the a-carbon atom of the ethyl group

Herein we present a synthesis and characterization of a new water soluble isoxazole-linked 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative owing the local positive charge at the carbon atom of oxadiazole moiety.
