Abstract Measurements on the conductance of dilute solutions of sodium Perchlorate, at 35 °C, in water-sulfolane mixtures over the entire solvent composition range are reported. Experimental data were analyzed by the 1965 Fuoss-Onsager-Skinner equations. No detectable ion association was found for this electrolyte, unlike sodium chloride in the same solvent mixtures. The association order KA(Cl-)>KA(ClO4-) is in contrast with that observed in protic solvents [KA(ClO4-)>KA(Cl-)] and is similar to that found in aprotic solvents. This shows that in water-sulfolane mixtures, association phenomena are mainly controlled by sulfolane. The lack of transport numbers for water-sulfolane mixtures precludes unambiguous explanations for Waiden products A0η.

A thermodynamic analysis of the Fe-Mn-P ternary system has been carried out using the CALPHAD method. Among the three binary systems relevant to this ternary phase diagram, the thermodynamic parameters of the Mn-P binary system were evaluated in this study. The enthalpy of formation of the binary phosphides obtained from our first-principles calculations was utilized in the present analysis to compensate for the lack of available experimental data. The thermodynamic descriptions of the Fe-Mn and Fe-P binary systems were taken from previous studies. The phase equilibria in the Fe-Mn-P ternary system were analysed based on the experimental data on the phase boundaries. The calculated phase diagrams are in agreement with the experimental results.

Electrophysical properties (specific conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, Hall effect) of the lead telluride obtained by pressing of the powder were investigated. In this case, the powder was pre-heat treated at 300 oC in the air to saturate it with oxygen. To interpret the experimental data obtained, a model of a defect subsystem of crystals of lead telluride with impurity of oxygen is proposed.

Abstract The gas-current method of measuring latent heat appears to possess important advantages over other calorimetric methods. Preliminary results have been derived from a co-operative investigation carried out by the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers and the Towne Scientific School, University of Pennsylvania, in which sufficiently reliable values of the interaction constant for air-and-water-vapor mixtures have been determined to permit an adequate thermodynamic analysis of the gas-current method. The present paper is devoted to the development of this analysis and its application to the reduction of certain experimental data recently obtained by one of the authors. The apparatus and method of conducting the experiments are also described.
