Fe/Si multi-layer films were fabricated on Si (100) substrates utilizing radio frequency magnetron sputtering system. Si/β-FeSi2 structure was found in the films after the deposition. Structural characterization of Fe-silicide sample was performed by transmission electron microscopy, to explore the dependence of the microstructure of β-FeSi2 film on the preparation parameters. It was found that β-FeSi2 particles were formed after the deposition without annealing, whose size is less than 20nm ,with a direct band-gap of 0.94eV in room temperature. After annealing at 850°C, particles grow lager, however the stability of thin films was still good.

We report the preparation and characterization of epitaxial LaNiO3 (LNO) thin films by chemical solution deposition method using lanthanum and nickel acetylacetonates as starting reagents dissolved in propionic acid. In order to obtain further information regarding the decomposition behavior of the film, the precursor solution was dried to obtain the precursor powder, which was investigated by thermal analyses and X-ray diffraction measurements (XRD). The LNO perovskite thin films were deposited by spin coating on SrTiO3(100) single crystal substrates. A detailed study with different crystallization temperatures (600–900 °C) at two different heating ramps (5 and 10 °C/min) was performed. Oriented LaNiO3 thin films with good out-of-plane textures were obtained with optimal surface morphologies.

Semi-spherical and irregular Pd nanoparticles and voids are fabricated on sapphire(0001) by the solid-state dewetting of sputter-deposited Pd thin films at different thickness and temperature. The structural evolution, surface morphology transformation and optical properties of Pd nanostructures are probed.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2 ) thin films have been deposited on glass substrates under various conditions by using a homemade reactive DC sputtering technique. The TiO2 has unique characteristics and economical alternative material for transparent conductivity oxide thin films compared with other materials. In this study, titanium (Ti) has been used as a target while argon (Ar) and oxygen (O22</subthin films has been measured by using a calibrated I-V meter. On the other hand, the transparency, microstructure and component of TiO2 thin films have been investigated respectively by using UV-VIS spectrophotometer, XRD and SEM (EDX). The thickness of TiO2 films, the grain size and the band gap have been also successfully estimated. As a result, the conductivity of films increased for Dt at 1 hour to 3.5 hours and decreased for Dt at 4 hours. It means that the optimum Dt was at about 3.5 hours. It may be related to the thickness (structures) of the films. In addition, the thickness and grain size increased by increasing Dt, while the band gap decreased when the film structure changed from non-crystalline structure to crystalizing structure.
